Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts suffers minor injury at DeVonta Smith's celebrity softball game
Though organized team activities and mandatory minicamps are all handled differently from one team to the next, the Philadelphia Eagles and all 31 of the other NFL franchises tell their players the same things before they break for the summer. Stay out of trouble. Stay in shape. Don't get hurt.
If you have access to Eagles Vice President/General Manager Howie Roseman or Chairman/CEO Jeffrey Lurie's contact information, try and keep this away from them. Their $255 million man, Jalen Hurts, had a bit of a scrape up this past weekend while competing in a charity event.
Always the competitor, Jalen Hurts earns a strawberry while competing at DeVonta Smith's celebrity softball game.
As expected, DeVonta Smith's second annual celebrity softball game was a success. Dallas Goedert showed off his skill during the home-run derby. The game was a lot of fun. Team Smith toppled Jahan Dotson's squad by a 14-5 margin, but a recently surfaced clip has a lot of Eagles fans talking.
The Griddy is a good sign. It looks like QB1 will be alright, and again, these guys are grown men and competitors. Of course Jalen was going to go all out to get to third base. What did you expect?
We can't wrap these guys in bubble wrap, and yes, this could have wound up being a much more serious injury had he involved himself in something else, a mototorcycle ride for instance. There's no need to exhibit that type of worry though.
Jalen wouldn't put himself into that type of peril. He's wise beyond his years. The Birds are off until July 25th when training camp begins. This is nothing that a little Neosporin can't handle.
Sure, no one wants to see offseason injuries that are unnecessary, but if your guys get hurt, you want them to do so for charity, right? We're just here to alleviate the concern. Don't be alarmed. QB1 will be fine, but you can understand why we all are a little protective and would be interested when something like this pops up.
