Eagles may have again made their intentions for Haason Reddick known
Truth be told, Haason Reddick is a solid dude. Let's get this out of the way before we go any further. Now, he makes his living playing a tough profession. He wants to get paid because, in his fields, the end can come quickly and unexpectedly. Trust us. We totally get it, but it's been obvious for a while that the Philadelphia Eagles are content to part ways even if some of us held out hope that Number 7 would stick around.
In today's economic climate, it's tough to sell to hard-working men and women that a guy set to earn $21.8 million is underpaid, but the market in any field dictates what pay rates are. When you analyze things that way, Haason, based on what he brings to the table, is underpaid, and he was massively underpaid last season.
That brings us to our current state of affairs.
A recent Eagles decision demonstrates Philly still hasn't given up hope in moving their two-time Pro Bowl edge rusher.
Some have questioned how deep Reddick's disapproval of the Eagles organization runs currently. Our Inside The Iggles staff hasn't spoken to him since a charity event, but we imagine he's a little ticked. If he wasn't beforehand, he probably felt his temperature rise after witnessing the Bryce Huff acquisition and the restructure of Josh Sweat's deal. And, now, it appears something else may be afoot.
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports "the Eagles are moving Haason Riddick’s $1M roster bonus, originally due March 15, to April 1, per sources" and "this, in theory, buys Philly time for a potential trade before having to pay the money. The discussions stemming from this one, as you might expect, have been hot and heavy all morning.
Keep an eye on this one. It appears that Reddick has played his final game in an Eagles jersey, but we'll see how things go in the coming weeks.
