It's easy to worry about injuries occurring when weather becomes a story at training camp. That was the case during a rainy Saturday workout, but Lady Luck was fortunately on the Philadelphia Eagles' side. Rather than enduring loss, we talked more about the returning guys. Unfortunately, however, bad news came on Sunday as a projected starter saw his work day end early.

During the second of five scheduled sessions this week (a walkthrough will occur on Monday), Mekhi Becton and Landon Dickerson left the practice field with an apparent injury. That isn't what you want to see when this team's O-line seemed overwhelmed during the second preseason game when the starters sat out and when the only other guy who was competing for Philly's starting right guard position, Tyler Steen, is expected to miss time with an injury of his own.

Thankfully, Landon Dickerson and Mekhi Becton's Sunday injuries aren't serious.

There is no turntable for Tyler Steen's return following his reaggravation of an ankle injury he suffered earlier in camp. Kudos to him for trying to gut it out and win a starting job, but it appears doing so will delay a full recovery and put him in a worse position than he was in to begin with.

Steen seemingly lost the starting job in a battle with Becton weeks ago, but the latter unfortunately is injured too. He limped off of the field early during Sunday's practice with what appeared to be a leg injury and didn't return, but good news came a few hours later.

Jeff McLane reports Mekhi's diagnosis is favorable. NFL sources tell him that the injury isn't serious. That's good to know. We expect he'll rest during the preseason finale and be ready for Week 1's game in Brazil.

As far as other injuries are concerned, Dickerson also limped off of the field at one point, but he appears to be okay as well.

The following Eagles didn't practice on Sunday:

  • Gabe Hall - hamstring
  • Matt Hennessy - back
  • EJ Jenkins - knee
  • Lane Johnson - Vet Day
  • Joe Ngata - ankle
  • Moro Ojomo - hip
  • Albert Okwuegbunam - abdomen
  • John Ross - concussion
  • Tyler Steen - ankle
  • Caden Sterns - knee
  • Johnny Wilson - concussion

Four Eagles practiced but were limited:

  • Oren Burks - knee
  • Grant Calcaterra - shoulder
  • Cooper DeJean - hamstring
  • CJ Gardner-Johnson - shoulder

We'll see what transpires on Monday. Philly's 15th practice of camp shouldn't be any less intriguing than the other 14.
