Eagles starters thankfully escape serious injury concerns
So, how much sleep have you gotten recently? Are you one of those Philadelphia Eagles fans who 'cranks things up when the regular season starts', or are you one of those die-hards who feels like Christmas came early and the gifts keep coming? We admittedly, are the latter. Call us football junkies, Birds fans who can't get enough of this stuff
We can't go to the grocery store without dropping everything when we hear notifications. Maybe it's time to learn how to set different ringtones for different applications.
Oh, don't act like it's just us! There's nothing more frustrating than believing you are unlocking the celly to get the latest updates when nothing has happened other than an ill-timed text message from Aunty.
Thankfully, there has been no shortage of updates from the NovaCare Complex. The other side to that coin is that sometimes forces us to discuss something we never enjoy... injuries.
Despite the concern, two projected Eagles starters and a youngster with starting potential have avoided serious injuries at training camp.
You'd think we would have gotten used to the knowledge that injuries are unavoidable in the NFL. That has never happened. Every time we hear of one, we cringe, cross our fingers, and hope for the best.
Can we tell you a secret? We thought Nick Gates' recent signing meant Tyler Steen's ankle injury was more serious than we thought and he'd be out for a while. Thankfully, we were wrong. He and Mekhi Becton returned to work before the eighth practice.
Two more starters, Cam Jurgens and CJ Gradner-Johnson left Monday's session early because of injury. Fear not! It appears their injuries aren't serious either. There is hope that there is minimal reason for concern.
Here's your injury report for Tuesday, August 6. Oren Burks (knee), Parris Campbell (groin), CJ Gardner-Johnson (shoulder), Mehki Garner (hamstring), and Brandon Smith (concussion) all sat out. Cam Jurgens (illness), Tyler Steen (ankle), and Austin Watkins (illness) are worked out but are limited.
So, it's good to see Cam will be fine, but even though CJ isn't quite ready to get back on the field, the word has been pretty consistent. His shoulder issue isn't so serious that it will keep him out for the long term.
That is good news as a game versus the Baltimore Ravens approaches on Friday.
