Eagles whose stock is falling following Philly's preseason win over the Patriots

Let's just say, in a game where some Eagles had to be at their best, they were unable to meet the standard.

And, just like that, several guys take a step forward, while others appear to have to do some work. The Philadelphia Eagles traveled to Foxborough and participated in a joint practice with the New England Patriots. A game between the two came two days later.

There were similarities to Week 1's exhibition versus the Baltimore Ravens. This one took our Birds away from the friendly confines of Lincoln Financial Field. It was a low-scoring affair with a dramatic ending.

Now, with two games behind us, the focius doesn't shift much. Stay healthy. Fill out the last few open spots on this roster. Don't expect to see much of the shoo-ins, but there's a chance that we'll see most of the guys on this list with a few exceptions.

The injured guys won't be playing, but for the guys who are capable, they'll need better showings than what they turned in versus the Pats.

James Bradberry, defensive back

James Bradberry looks like he has no clue what's going on. He has studied RPOs at practice. How is he unprepared for one during a game?

He's being beaten in coverage and missing tackles. Heck, if he can't tackle, there's no reason for him to be here. He made the switch to safety because he was getting cooked at corner, and now, even the safety position seems to be too much of a challenge.

Tyler Steen, offensive lineman

Tyler Steen began camp as the presumed starter. He suffered an ankle injury during the third practice, sat out for a spell, and returned in an attempt to gut it out. Now, it appears he is down for the count

Max Scharping, offensive lineman

The reserves along the offensive line looked bad until the guys who probably won't make New England's team took the field. That isn't all Max Scharping's fault, but we can't leave his name off our list after watching him give up a couple of quick sacks to Keion White and then Deatrich Wise Jr. while standing in at left tackle.

Maybe Scharping would fare better as a guard (and somewhere else)?

Kenny Pickett, quarterback

Kenny Pickett.. Okay, Tanner McKee is just better, and we're running out of ways to describe what we are seeing from the former Pitt Panther. Okay, how's this?

Pickett hasn't ever imploded, but he hasn't been that good either. The offense simply has no juice with him behind center. He has a Carson Wentz vibe... You know that 'I'm doing a good job' and 'I'm entitled to something I haven't earned'.

Did you see that postgame press conference? Yeah... We'd like to see him take some accountability and take some ownership on and off the field. Say 'I have to be better'. Throw the ball down the field. Do something... Anything...

John Ross, wide receiver

Johnny Wilson and John Ross both left this one with concussions and are now in protocol. This seems to be a larger problem for Ross because he seems less likely to make this team.

He needs every snap that he can get to prove himself worthy of a job, but head injuries must be handled carefully. He won't be able to practice for a while, and who knows if he'll be cleared for contact in the preseason finale on August 24th.

The Eagles special teams unit

Jake Elliott bounced back. That was good to see. Braden Mann is the best punter this team has had in a while. Rick Lovato hasn't ever given us anything to complain about. Britain Covey is a great punt returner.

With all that said, you might ask why we are complaining. It's simple. Two of the best special teams players from last season, Josh Jobe and Patrick Johnson, may not make this team. There are also two kick returns that are fresh on our minds. 32-yard and 53-yard returns set up Patriots drives from their own 36 and the Eagles' 47.

Every tight end not named Dallas Goedert, Grant Calcaterra, or E.J. Jenkins

Dallas Goedert and Grant Calcaterra have never had any concerns about whether or not they were going to make this roster. The questions were about who the TE3 would be. We may finally have our answer.

The cream has risen to the top. E.J. Jenkins is better than everyone else vying for a roster spot. Albert Okwuegbunam can't play. Kevin Foelsch and Armani Rodgers never had a shot, and we sometimes forget that C.J. Uzomah is on the preseason roster.

If Philly keeps three tight ends, the third should be E.J. Jenkins. The other guys have done nothing to prove they deserve a roster spot.
