The hour approaches. For the 182nd time in their storied histories, the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants are scheduled to play a game. This one will hopefully double as a Christmas present for Birds fans, a victory for the good guys at home in Lincoln Financial Stadium.

The Birds lead the all-time tally by a 92-87-2 tally. They have also won the previous four meetings.

Eagles injury news: Avonte Maddox still isn't ready.

Rumors began floating sometime toward the beginning of last week... or at the end of the prior week (one or the other) that the Birds might get Avonte Maddox back ahead of the postseason. Those discussions had credence as Philly announced the opening of a 21-day practice window on December 21st.

He isn't ready to go yet though. He'll miss this one. Philly has until January 11th to promote him from the injured reserve to the active roster. If they elect against doing so, a la Justin Evans, he'll return to Philly's I.R. where he'll remain for the rest of the regular season.

The Eagles and Giants will announce their Week 15 inactives 90 minutes before kickoff.

Philly and New York released their most recent injury reports on Saturday. On the Eagles' side, Cam Jurgens (pectoral) and DeVonta Smith (knee) are pushing to play and will be game-time decisions. Zach Cunningham (knee), Landon Dickerson (thumb), and Darius Slay (knee) are also out. Nicholas Morrow (abdomen) is questionable.

On the Giants end, defensive tackle Rakeem Nunez-Roches (knee) and offensive tackle Evan Neal (ankle) are out. Tight end Lawrence Cager (groin), defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence (hamstring), running back Gary Brightwell (hamstring), wide receiver Isaiah Hodgins (illness), and DT A'Shawn Robinson (back) are all questionable.
