The Eagles will play the Packers during Week 1's game in Brazil, and honestly, we should all be thankful.

It's official. The Philadelphia Eagles will 'host' the Green Bay Packers in Week 1 of the 2024 NFL regular season, sort of. Technically, the Birds are the home team, but this feels nothing like a home game as the battleground sits somewhere around 4,756.8 miles from the City of Brotherly Love.

Still, we know the date of the first Eagles game of the 105th professional football season. We also know the opponent. kicks off with what we expect to be a Kansas City Chiefs home game on September 5th. The Birds and Cheeseheads follow one day later as ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the first-ever game in São Paulo will air one night later on Friday, September 6th.

Thank Heaven it is so! Who remembers those reports that surfaced about a month ago stating the opponent might be the Cleveland Browns? Come on. Let's be honest. No one wanted to see that right?

We should all thank the NFL for giving us a more interesting Eagles game in Week 1 than we thought we'd see.

Sure, the Browns have a huge following. They made the playoffs last season. Their head coach might be a genius of some sort. Deshaun Watson used to be a pretty big deal. We get all that, but come on. The Pack is a much more exciting watch. Everyone outside Cleveland knows that.

Jordan Love might be something special. Green Bay is a young team that ousted the Dallas Cowboys in the Wild Card Round of the NFC Playoffs before giving the eventual NFC Champion San Francisco 49ers everything they could handle in the Divisional Round.

The Pack appears to be back, and they're young. It looks like they might win for a while. This is the first-ever NFL game to be played in South America. Arena Corinthians, home to the Sport Club Corinthians Paulista soccer team is the backdrop.

If you're the National Football League, you want to put your best foot forward in a game such as this, and Eagles versus Packers always delivers.

You remember 4th and 26, right? We expect fireworks AND an Eagles win, but we can also promise you something. It won't be pretty.

That's the good news. Here's the bad news. Watching this one means you're a Peacock subscriber. The streaming service owns sole rights to the game's airing, so you may have to open the wallet or pocket book if you aren't already subscribing.

This is the first Week 1 game that will be played in the NFL in over 50 years. The stadium was one of the hosting venues for the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the 2016 Summer Olympic Games. Once this one wraps, at least one NFL game will have been played in five of the world's seven continents.

We won't lie though. Maybe it's just us, but we'd rather be watching one at Lincoln Financial Field.
