Eagles rumors: We may now know Philly's opponent for the Week 1 opener in Brazil
Well, we have known who the Philadelphia Eagles 2024 opponents are for a while now. We just didn't know when they'd play them. We have also known the location of Week 1's affair for quite some time, but we had to guess about an opponent. Well, some of us did. Here's our tip of the cap to recently retired Peter King for hitting the nail on the head... Gosh, we miss that guy already.
During a late-February Football Morning In America drop, King hinted that he thought the Birds' opponent might be the Cleveland Browns. Score one for the legend again... maybe.
Browns interior defensive lineman Maurice Hurts may have spilled the beans about the first-regular season game played by NFL franchises in Brazil. Take a look at that one for yourselves.
An intriguing subplot surrounds a potential Eagles vs. Browns showdown in Brazil.
Jalen Hurts... Deshaun Watson... The names take us back to the 2017 College Football Playoff National Championship where Watson's Clemson Tigers upset Hurts and his Alabama Crimson Tide teammates by way of a 35-31 come-from-behind victory.
Much has changed for both guys since then. Both are older. Both are wealthier, but neither has lost the competitive edge.
The most recent NFL season didn't end as either would have liked. Watson ended his campaign on the injured reserve. Hurts and company collapsed. We'll see what happens in Week 1 of the coming regular season... if they play of course.
