The defending NFC champions will open up their 2023 campaign against the New England Patriots.

The Patriots are long past their glory days, but still have a dangerous defense and one of the best coaches in league history at the helm. With that being said, the Philadelphia Eagles are ready to make another run at the Super Bowl after falling just short last season.

Eagles vs. Patriots key players to watch

Philadelphia Eagles

D'andre Swift: Jalen Hurts and the Eagles' receiving core is back, but that back field is going to look a little bit different. Miles Sanders is out and D'Andre Swift is in. He's coming off his best season of his career with the Lions where he averaged 5.5 yards per carry while hauling in 48 receptions for 389 yards. If he can continue that level of production with the Eagles, they're going to be a tough offense to slow down. His Eagles debut will be fascinating.

New England Patriots

Matthew Judon: If the Patriots are going to slow down the Eagles offense, it's going to be due to Matthew Judon having a big season. He signed a nice extension in the offseason after his best campaign of his career where he recorded 15.5 sacks and 60 tackles. He's going to be the cornerstone of this Patriots defense this year.

Eagles vs. Patriots prediction and pick

I'm shocked this spread is only four points. We're talking about the defending NFC champions against a Patriots squad that missed the playoffs last year. This bet is a no-brainer for me.

The best offensive weapon the Patriots have is Rhamondre Stevenson, and the list of dangerous players ends right about there. A combination of Mac Jones, JuJu Smith-Schuster, DeVante Park, and Kendrick Bourne doesn't strike fear in me when it comes to facing the stout Philadelphia defense.

The Eagles might just be the most talented roster in football season. I think they run away with this one.
