Full list of Eagles absent from Philly's second OTA practice open to the media
Another sunny day was the backdrop of the Philadelphia Eagles' second OTA practice that was open to the media. As you might expect, most of the guys we trust to cover the team were available and present to take in all of the action from what was certain to be a busy day. The hope was there would be a few more surprises.
That's more than we can say for some of the veterans. A handful of Birds decided against attending. That's okay. As we mentioned during the May 22 practice session, which was also open to the media, attendance during this portion of the offseason workout plan is voluntary.
What do you say? How about we talk about the absentees anyway?
Here's the list of Eagles who sat out of the May 30 OTA practice session.
Hungry dogs run faster. That's what Jeff Stoutland taught us, but before that, we learned long ago that you can't teach old dawgs new tricks. One of the former UGA stars, Kelee Ringo, was present for the May 30 session after sitting out on May 22.
That was good to see. He got some work thanks to two other corners being absent, bith were starters on the 2023 Eagles roster.
Darius Slay
Slay sat this one out after being present on May 22. That's okay. He's the consumate leader and will no doubt be present at mandatory minicamp.
DeVonta Smith
The man formerly known as the 'Slim Reaper' was also absent. He also missed practice on May 22, but like Saly, we know DeVonta Smith will be ready when the Number 6 is called upon and Philly turns on its Bat Signal.
Fear not! There was a DeVonta Smith sighting. He joined 94 WIP-FM's Afternoon Show. Check out the website for highlights of that interview.
C.J. Gardner-Johnson
Much is expected of C.J. G.J. in his return to the Midnight Green. He wasn't at the May 30 practice session after attending on May 22, but that allowed Makhi Garner to get some extra work in.
Josh Sweat
Josh Sweat missed both the May 22 and May 30 sessions. We aren't worried. This is year seven for him in the NFL and year four under Nick Sirianni. We can state with confidence that he knows what he is doing.
James Bradberry
James Bradberry is again absent. He's also someone that everyone thinks could be a post-June 1st cut. He'll be at mandatory minicamp unless Philly elects to move on. No one should be shocked if they do or don't.
Lane Johnson
Yeah... We aren't going to worry about the best tackle in football as Nick Sirianni calls him. Lane is one of those guys that has seen it all. He isn't going to learn much by being here.,
Worth noting: Jacob Harris is sidelined.
Jacob Harris was sidelined for practice on May 30. That's something to keep an eye on. As someone who may be on the outside of the roster and looking in, he needs every snap he can get to make an impression.
