Jalen Hurts finished second in MVP voting in 2022 behind only Patrick Mahomes and then topped his season off with one of the best performances by a quarterback in Super Bowl history.
That must mean he's first or second on the odds list to win NFL MVP, right? RIGHT?!
Wrong. In fact, he's not second, third, or even fourth on the list to win the award in 2023. Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow, Josh Allen, and Justin Herbert all have better odds than Hurts to be named the Most Valuable Player this season.
That's just insane.
Jalen Hurts NFL MVP odds
That's why when I was trying to decide what my best bet for the Eagles this season would be, the obvious answer was for Hurts to win MVP at +1200 odds. In my opinion, that kind of value makes him an absolute no-brainer.
In my article "Best bets for all 32 NFL teams" which you can read here, I broke down why I like Hurts to win the award:
"Jalen Hurts finished second in MVP voting last year but yet is somehow listed at +1200 to win it this upcoming season.
"Hurts took huge steps forward with his progression in his third year in the NFL and there’s no reason not to believe he won’t take another step forward this year. You can add on the fact the Eagles are unarguably the best team in the NFC and they don’t even have a tough schedule to worry about.
"The Eagles have the 13th easiest schedule in the NFL, easier than all other MVP candidates including Joe Burrow, Patrick Mahomes, and Josh Allen.
"This might be my favorite awards bet available this season."
