They say numbers never lie. That statement in and of itself can at times false. Numbers lie all of the time. This time, they tell the tale though. Just look at the stat lines of the Philadelphia Eagles and Tampa Bay Buccaneers signal-callers.

Jalen Hurts tallied 18 completions on 30 attempts with 158 yards passing. He threw one passing TD. He was sacked six times and lost 44 yards,

He also rushed eight times for 20 yards. He fumbled twice and lost one of those. He scored scored a rushing TD. Baker Mayfield's numbers look much better.

He threw 47 times and completed 30 attempts. 347 yards and two TDs were the result. He was sacked twice (13 yards lost) and ran four times, scoring a TD in the process.

Baker also fumbled, but it was recovered by his offesnive teammates. See what we mean about numbers? Looking at all of that, you can tell whose team won.

Todd Bowles' defensive scheme has always given Jalen Hurts problems. That continued in Week 4.

Tampa entered Week 4's game having only notched two sacks during their first three games. They tallied six sacks versus Jalen Hurts on Sunday.

Wait! We thought QB1 was a mobile quarterback.

Jalen Hurts and Nick Sirianni's staff still haven't figured out Todd Bowles defense.

Welp! Nick Sirianni said just this week that sacks could come in bunches. We just thought Philadelphia would cause the avalanche he mentioned.

Bummer!

Jalen Hurts worst throw in Week 4

There were so many to choose from here, but we'll go with his first. On 1st down during the game's first drive, Jalen Hurts rolled right and missed a wide-open Saquon Barkley downfield. Had he connected, it probably would have gone for a touchdown. QB1 never gave the receiver a chance as the ball was thrown well out of bounds.

Needless to say, the drive ended in a three and out. Things ended with him bailing out of the pocket in third and long. He rolled right into a Bucs blitz. It wasn't a great start for QB1

Best throw

There weren't many of these to choose from seeing as how there were only 18 completions, so we'll go with his toss to Dallas Goedert towards the end of the first half. That one pushed Philly into the red zone.

Parris Campbell scored his first TD of the season to put a bow on Philly's first TD drive.

It was a rough day for Philly's offense and their defense. After his unit enjoyed an impressive showing in New Orleans versus the Saints, Vic Fangio was taken to school in Week 4. Bucs offensive coordinator Liam Coen and Baker Mayfield put on a masterclass in this one.

Todd Bowles was equally as impressive versus the Eagles offense. He again befuddled Hurts and the Eagles offense. It never seems to matter who the offensive coordinator is.

Some might blame this loss on A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith being out of the lineup (and Lane Johnson missing this week's contest. We won't, and Jalen won't either. Sometimes, in the NFL, franchise quarterbacks are asked to make lemons out of lemonade.

That's the career path these guys have chosen for themselves. The weather won't always be favorable. The conditions won't always be perfect. The best you can do as a team is avoid beating yourselves. Unfortunately, Hurts continues to put the ball in harm's way and his team in some bad spots.
