Nate Ramsey, defensive back (1963-1972)

The Philadelphia Eagles selected defensive back Nate Ramsey out of Indiana University in the 14th round of the 1963 NFL Draft. He turned out to be a hidden gem from that selection meeting as he would go on to become one of the great ball hawks in franchise history. At the time of this story's release, he ranks among the top 15 Birds in terms of career interceptions having snagged 21 for his career.

During his first four years with Philly, Ramsey collected 13 interceptions. He led the team in that category during both the 1964 and 1965 seasons. He cooled some from the 1967 to 1972 NFL seasons as he only grabbed eight picks, but he continued to assist in creating opportunities for the offense by recovering five fumbles during that time.

The New Jersey native would end his career one year later in 1973 as a member of the New Orleans Saints, but he will always be remembered as an Eagle and a part of their story forever.
