We sometimes forget that football is an emotional game. The conversations about this great product we love often shift to thoughts about Next Gen Stats, Pro Football Focus grades, and seasonal topics like the Philadelphia Eagles' perceived disinterest in establishing a respectable linebacker corps. Oh, and then, there's the other thing. This one we've been tossing around for a few offseasons as well. Will Jason Kelce call it a career or return to the Birds for another season?

Things really got deep last offseason. No one knows if we're correct. Jason never really confirmed this. We can make guesses, but the assumption was the G.O.A.T. would have called it a career had Philly beaten the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII. That, in turn, led us to believe he returned because he thought there was a shot at the Eagles getting back to football's biggest game and winning it.

Let's just say things didn't work out as planned. The Birds'.most recent NFL season ended in collapse, and they seem like they're further from returning to the Super Bowl than they were last February. Now what? How does Jason respond? What will be his decision?

Jason Kelce updates everyone on where he thinks his future with or without the Eagles is headed.

It's been a couple of weeks since the Birds lost in Tampa and we saw the tears stream down Jason Kelce's face. Jason told his teammates he intended to hang the cleats up. At least that's what we were told. He seems pretty upbeat though. At least that's what the vibe was when he went shirtless in frigid conditions in Buffalo.

Yeah... That guy didn't seem like he had a care in the world. But, we're back to the question. Is Jason Kelce retiring or not?

Check out a recent story involving the future Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee when you have a moment. This one's about his support of his brother, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, and it was penned by The Philadelphia Inquirer's Olivia Reiner. Here's where Jason is a few hours after the AFC Championship Game.

"As a Philadelphia Eagle, incredibly disappointing season, especially at the end of it, and I really, really look forward to next year. I look forward to trying to prove people wrong, especially with some of the recent hires and Nick Sirianni, and there’s a lot of things up in the air for the Philadelphia Eagles. But, I think that, as a player, you always look forward to go into battle with your guys."

Cool! So, he's back, right? That's what we thought all of this meant, but then he said this.

"And, I don’t know what’s going to happen for me, but I do know, I still want to be involved in the organization and still want to be a part of it, regardless of what the decision is. Because, I don’t want to ever feel like I’m on the outside looking in on these achievements and these accolades and these opportunities that largely represent entire cities and fan bases and organizations. It’s too good a feeling to pass up."

Sorry guys... The G.O.A.T. hasn't made his mind up yet. Here's another theory. Raise your hand if you disagree with what follows.

That makes sense. We'll see what happens in the days and months to come, but here's where we'll end this.

You may be disappointed with the conclusion that will be drawn here. Sadly, it's the only one that can be drawn. The truth is as follows.

No one knows what Jason is thinking. Heck, as you can see, Jason doesn't even know what he's thinking at the moment. It's understandable. How does a guy walk away so easily from a game he has played since he was a child?

So, here we sit, and yes friends, Jason Kelce watch will continue. Let him take as much time as he needs to make the decision though. He has earned that.
