Philly's run game with D'Andre Swift needs to be the focal point of the offense.

Give the Vikings defense led by Brian Flores credit for taking away Jalen Hurts' opportunities to escape the pocket as well as defending his passing lanes early in the game. However, once the Eagles established the run with D'Andre Swift, everything else opened up.

After getting just one carry in Week 1, Swift made a huge impact in the absence of Kenneth Gainwell. As previously mentioned, he averaged 6.3 yards per carry and totaled 175 yards on the ground and a touchdown.

As Minnesota had to adjust to stop the run, Hurts started finding his receivers. He found DeVonta Smith for a 63-yard touchdown four minutes into the third quarter to put the Eagles up by three scores. This lead was never in jeopardy until there were just seconds left in the game. The Eagles and their new offensive coordinator would be wise to establish the run early next time around.

Quarterback Jalen Hurts ultimately finished the game having completed 18 of 23 passes for 193 yards. He threw one touchdown pass, one interception, and he scored two TDs on the ground. He was outplayed by Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins who threw for 364 yards and four TD passes, but the Eagles rushing attack controlled the game as they outgained Minnesota on the ground by a 259 yards to 28-yard margin.

Overall, the Eagles knew they faced a difficult challenge opening the season on the road followed by having to play just four days later. The good thing is they passed the test and come out of this stretch 2-0. Now they have extra time to get healthy and to get ready for their Week 3 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday Night Football.
