Devin White was ruled out of Week 1's Philadelphia Eagles vs. Green Bay Packers game on Wednesday. He didn't even travel with the team to Brazil. He continues to recover from an ankle injury.

Thursday came, and Isaiah Rodgers was ruled out of the first game of the season. He traveled, but hasn't been medically cleared to play. A hand issue is keeping him out of action. Welcome to a typical week in the National Football League.

Seven practice squad players traveled with the team to São Paulo. Here's everyone on that list: QB Will Grier, running back Tyrion Davis-Price, wide receiver Parris Campbell, tight end EJ Jenkins, offensive lineman Nick Gates, O-lineman Jack Driscoll, and safety Andre Sam.

The Birds can call up two players from the practice squad to the active roster before kickoff. We expected Gates to be one of those call-ups as the backup center and for Jenkins to be elevated as the third tight end, and it appears that we were right.

Philly announced both were elevated shortly after 4 pm EST.

Easgles Inactives List for Week 1 Game Against Packers

You've certainly heard this 700 times or more by now, but the Eagles and Packers are scheduled to do something no other NFL team has done, play an NFL game in Brazil. Both teams eye a 1-0 start. Only one will accomplish that goal.

Philly being without two defenders that are expected to play huge roles this season isn't ideal. You know the saying though. This is a game of attrition. Guys will have to step up in their absence.

Rumor has it that, had White been available, Nakobe Dean was set to make the fifth start of his NFL career anyway. Kelee Ringo is expected to take the snaps that would have been given to Rodgers.

Key Absences and Their Impact

Offensive Impact

None of the Eagles starters are sitting this one out, and EJ Jenkins' elevation means Kellen Moore's offense should be at full strength come game time.

Defensive Impact

Rumor has it that, had White been available, Nakobe Dean was set to make the fifth start of his NFL career anyway. Kelee Ringo is expected to take the snaps that would have been given to Rodgers.

Philly enters this one with six available cornerbacks: Ringo, Darius Slay, Avonte Maddox, Quinyon Mitchell, Eli Ricks, and Cooper DeJean. The available linebackers are Zack Baun, Oren Burks, Nakobe Dean, Jeremiah Trotter, and Ben VanSumeren.

Special Teams Impact

It's possible that we could have seen White get some snaps on Michael Clay's special teams unit. In his absence, guys will be asked to step up (most likely Trotter and VanSumeren).
