Philadelphia Eagles roster cuts tracker: Live updates before cut day
Well, that didn't take long. Things sure got interesting in a hurry, didn't they? We were smack dab in that dead news spell. That always hangs over us before the Philadelphia Eagles begin training camp, but once our guys reported to the NovaCare Complex, the news began dropping so fast it will make your head spin.
We have turned the page from July to August. That means we are nearing the next stage of our journey. The first of three preseason games will kick off on August 9th at 7:30 pm EST.
The task of trimming a 90-man training camp roster to a 53-man regular-season roster is underway. With so many good players on the squad, as is the case every offseason, we'll get to know some dark horse candidates we'll fall in love with while also saying farewell to some ballers.
Fear not! Adding 16 players to the practice squad is also an option, or in Philly's case 17 players. Laekin Vakalahi is given an exemption as an undrafted rookie added by way of the International Pathways Player Program.

The roster-building process has already begun for the Philadelphia Eagles. Cornerback Mario Goodrich was released on July 30th to make room for veteran offensive lineman Nick Gates. Other things are also worth noting.
Le'Raven Clark has been on the team's injured reserve since May. Sydney Brown sits in the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list. Rookie defensive back Cooper DeJean and veteran wide receiver Shaquan Davis sit on the Active/Non-Football Injury list.
Keep your eyes peeled and your ear to the street, or you could simply bookmark this story. We'll keep you abreast of any transactions as they occur. Expect a few surprises. Their occurrence is almost a given.
Here are a couple of dates you'll want to keep in mind.
Tuesday, August 27: Rosters must be trimmed down to 53 players by 4:00 PM EST.
Wednesday, August 28: At noon EST, NFL waiver wire claims will be revealed. Teams can begin forming their 16-player practice squads at that time.
Now, let's get to the good stuff. Here are the players who have been released, waived, and given an injury designation.

August 26
Update (One more for Aug 26)
Per DiCecco, the Eagles waive Jason Poe and reach an injury settlement with Mekhi Garner shortly before 8 pm EST.
Yet another Aug 26 update: Ian Rapoport releases a report involving rookie WR Ainias Smith.
One of NFL Network's top NFL Insiders released the following report on Monday.
Ainias Smith is scheduled to undergo an MRI. With that, here's a theory. He'll begin the regular season as one of the Eagles' pair of non-season-ending injured reserve designations. That opens a roster spot for someone else.
Other Aug 26 updates
Andrew DiCecco also reports that sources tell him the Eagles are waiving safety Andre’ Sam and tight end Kevin Foelsch. The belief is the plan is to bring Sam back on the practice squad provided he clears waivers.
Parry Nickerson has been released The same is true of quarterback Will Grier and OLB Julian Okwara. Rookie cornerback Shon Stephens has been waived.
Veteran CB Zech McPhearson issued a 'thank you' via his social media account which, more than likely means he has also been waived.
Our hope is Zech returns as a member of the Eagles' practice squad.
Update (Aug 26) The Eagles begin announcing roster moves ahead of the roster cut deadline.
Vested veterans with at least four accrued seasons are released rather than waived. They can sign with any team. That is the situation that offensive lineman Max Sharping finds himself in. He has been released. Thank Aaron Wilson for the update.
Inside The Birds' Andrew DiCecco reports the Eagles are waiving wide receivers Austin Watkins and Griffin Hebert AND defensive end Tarron Jackson. They now have to part ways with 33 players to get down to 53 players.
