Potential Eagles 2024 free-agent targets with ties to Vic Fangio

Here's a look at a handful of impending 2024 free agents that know the new Eagles defensive coordinator very well.

Christian Wilkins, interior defensive lineman (if he isn't franchised)

Like Andrew Van Ginkel, Christian Wilkins' time in Fangio's scheme was brief, but it was also productive. 65 tackles, nine sacks, two pass breakups, and a forced fumble is nothing to sneeze at.

Wilkins started all 17 regular-season games and the lone postseason contest that he appeared in with the Miami Dolphins in 2023. We know the Fins and Fangio parted ways this offseason. We also know he won't be missed by a large portion of Miami's defensive roster.

That isn't to say Wilkins isn't a fan of his former DC's leadership style. We don't know that. We don't even know if Wilkins will reach free agency's pool. He kind of feels like he'll be franchised.

What we do know is this. The Eagles are always in the market to add quality interior defensive linemen regardless of how many they employ, and this is a very good one worthy of attention. Suppose Miami doesn't franchise him. He makes a lot of sense in Philly.

Josey Jewell, inside linebacker

Josey Jewell is getting a little long in the tooth by NFL standards. He'll turn 30 on Christmas which won't endear him to those who are in the 'Philly needs to get younger and faster' camp.

Taken during the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft out of Iowa, Jewell has played all six seasons of his NFL career in the Mile High City. That includes three seasons under Fangio (2019-2021). He was once the defensive signal-caller, so that says a lot about what Philly's new DC thinks about him.
