Six Philadelphia Eagles training camp practices and a little over a week of work are in the books after veterans and rookies reported on July 23rd. On-field workouts began the next day. We saw unexpected injuries. Then, we saw guys shuffled in and out of the lineup. We also saw guys line up during practice in places we didn't think they were being evaluated.

The offense has shines. The defense has made a few splash plays. The preseason looms with a game to be played on August 9th.

The Eagles haven't offered a depth chart. That won't stop us from making guesses. After all, it isn't like we haven't done this in our minds.

Here's our guess at what the Eagles depth chart might look like heading into the preseason. We reserve the right to change our minds constantly.

There's still a ways to go and three preseason games to play. Before the first, we're making guesses about where guys fall in the roster's pecking order.

Let us know if your depth chart looks like ours. As mentioned above, we reserve the right to change our minds. We expect that to happen almost daily.

Quarterback

Jalen Hurts, Kenny Pickett, Tanner McKee, Will Grier

We've known this for a while. Will Grier will be the odd man out here.

Running Back

Saquon Barkley, Kenneth Gainwell, Will Shipley (R), Tyrion Davis-Price, Kendall Milton (UDFA), Lew Nichols

Are the Eagles keep three or four guys here. That is the question. That will help us make some educated guesses about a 53-man roster. It feels like three guys (the top three) are more than enough.

Wide Receiver (X)

A.J. Brown, Johnny Wilson (R), Joseph Ngata, Griffin Hebert

Don't be shocked if Johnny Wilson winds up in the mix for a slot receiver role. His six-foot-six, 228-pound frame would cause matchup nightmares for opposing slot corners. Plus, slot guys need to block in Kellen Moore's offense, and we don't view that as Parris Campbell and Britain Covey's strength.

Wide Receiver (Y)

DeVonta Smith, Ainias Smith (R), Jacob Harris, Austin Watkins Jr.

Ainias Smith has to catch the ball when it comes his way, or he's going to be a fringe guy come cut time. So far, he has given us Nelson Agholor vibes, and we don't mean the Nelson Agholor we saw in 2017.

Wide Receiver (Z)

Parris Campbell, Britain Covey, John Ross, Shaquan Davis (NFI)

This is one of those areas where you start throwing stuff at the wall and hope it sticks, Parris Campbell, Britain Covey, and John Ross have all gotten snaps in the slot. All have been impressive.

Again... This depth chart is certain to be shuffled. We reserve the right to change our minds.

Tight End

Dallas Goedert, Grant Calcaterra, CJ Uzomah, Albert Okwuegbunam, EJ Jenkins, Kevin Foelsch

Grant Calcaterra is better than CJ Uzomah. If you've been struggling with that, consider this your wakeup call.

Left Tackle

Jordan Mailata, Fred Johnson, Anim Dankwah (R)

Left Guard

Landon Dickerson, Brett Toth, Trevor Keegan (R)

Jason Poe is gone, and truthfully we didn't know much about him when he was here. Gosh, we have to learn the bottom third of the guys on the roster! Brett Toth ran with the first team at LG during the open practice in place of Landon Dickerson who was sitting out.

That's interesting to us even if it isn't interesting to anyone else.

Center

Cam Jurgens, Dylan McMahon (R), Nick Gates

Right Guard

Mekhi Becton, Tyler Steen, Matt Hennessy, Max Scharping

They used to say 'you can't lose your job because of injury' in the old days. That was a lie then, and it's a lie now. It felt like Philly wanted Tyler Steen to be their starting right guard, but he has been injured, and Mekhi Becton is taking the job in his absence.

Meanwhile, we keep waiting on Philly to move Matt Hennessy up the ladder. That doesn't seem to be happening.

Right Tackle

Lane Johnson, Darian Kinnard, Laekin Vakalahi (IPP)

Defensive Tackle

Jalen Carter, Marlon Tuipulotu, Thomas Booker IV

The Eagles will run Vic Fangio's 3-4 scheme. It will be intriguing to see how he deploys guys (and what his front will look like). We know one thing. He has a weapon in Jalen Carter. He has tossed Mekhi Becton around a few times, and Becton isn't a small human being.

Nose Tackle

Jordan Davis, PJ Mustipher

Jordan Davis is a massive dude. Let's hope he evolves into that consistently dominant force in the middle.

Defensive End

Milton Williams, Moro Ojomo, Gabe Hall (UDFA)

Outside Linebacker

Bryce Huff, Brandon Graham, Jalyx Hunt (R), Julian Okwara

Bryce Huff hasn't been overly impressive in camp, and that's a tad concerning. Then again, he has been lining up, more often than not, from Lane Johnson.

Don't panic yet. This is, however, something that we will be watching.

Middle Linebacker

Devin White, Oren Burks, Ben VanSumeren, Shaquille Quarterman

Oren Burks has gotten injured. If this looms, Ben VanSumeren could sneak onto another Eagles roster. Heck, it isn't like he can't ball.

WILL (Weakside) Linebacker

Zack Baun, Nakobe Dean, Jeremiah Trotter Jr. (R)

Remember when Nakobe Dean was invited to the draft as an expected first-round draftee? Yeah, that guy has to be in there somewhere. This is going to be an intriguing batle to watch during the preseason.

Outside Linebacker

Josh Sweat, Nolan Smith, Patrick Johnson, Tarron Jackson, Terrell Lewis

Stories abound here. Josh Sweat is in a contract season. Nolan Smith has bulked up and wants to prove he's worthy of the faith the Eagles placed in him. Patrick Johnson is trying to hang onto a job.

Tarron Jackson's workload has decreased during each of his three NFL seasons. Last year, he was relegated to scout team duty.

Cornerback (left)

Darius Slay, Isaiah Rodgers, Josh Jobe, Parry Nickerson

Cornerback (right)

Kelee Ringo, Eli Ricks, Zech McPhearson

Kelee Ringo and Isaiah Rodgers have both taken snaps with the first team opposite Darius Slay. Both have looked good. For now, we'll assume Ringo is the favorite as he has taken more of those snaps when we have been paying attention.

Nickelback (slot)

Quinyon Mitchell (R), Cooper DeJean (R), Tyler Hall, Shon Stephens

Once upon a time, we thought first-round selection could start opposite Darius Slay on the outside and Cooper DeJean could see time in the slot. That still might happen, but since then, we learned DeJean would miss time before Philly ever stepped on the practice field.

We, then assumed DeJean's injury would allow other Eagles to prove their mettle. It has done exactly that. Quinyon Mitchell is one of those guys. He has taken snaps in the slot and has looked damn good doing so.

We'll see what happens moving forward.

Strong safety

C.J. Gardner-Johnson, James Bradberry, Sydney Brown (PUP), Andre' Sam

James Bradberry is still here. That;s surprising. If we learn he can play safety, he might have a home, but if not, he's in a world of trouble.

Free Safety

Reed Blankenship, Avonte Maddox, Trsitin McCollum, Mekhi Garner

We were ready almost ready to move on from Avonte Maddox mentally, but he's still the Eagles' most experienced slot corner, one who could provide value as a safety in the backend. That pushes Tristin McCollum further down the depth chart after earning important snaps at the end of last season.

Keep an eye on both during the coming exhibition games.

The Specialists

Kicker: Jake Elliott
Punter: Braden Mann
Holder: Braden Mann
Long Snapper: Rick Lovato
Punt Returner: Britain Covey, Cooper DeJean, Isaiah Rodgers
Kick Returner: Isaiah Rodgers, Will Shipley

Injured Reserve

The Eagles have one player listed on the injured reserve. Le'Raven Clark. He was added to the list shortly after the most recent NFL Draft at about the same time seven rookie undrafted free agents were added.
