Several Saints starters are banged up ahead of the Eagles trip to New Orleans
You can have the best coaches and a supportive fan base. None of that matters if you don't have players. None of that is the Philadelphia Eagles' issue. The Birds arguably have stars or stars in the making at every position. There are several teams that would take Philly's roster in a second.
So, what's left? Simply put, guys have to make plays. They have to make the most of opportunities when they come their way. And, yes... Coaches have to put those players in the best positions to be successful.
What are we forgetting? Oh yeah... You've probably heard this a time or two. Football is a demolition derby, a war of attrition, just getting to the finish line in once piece matters.
Sometimes, it's the healthy squad that wins late. Gosh... We're just three weeks in, and the Birds are down one starter for Sunday's game and could be without another, but the New Orleans Saints are dealing with a few injury concerns too.
AJ Brown and C.J. Gardner-Johnson are given game-day designations on Friday, but the Saints have their share of injuries to manage.
AJ Brown hasn't participated in a practice session all week because of a hamstring injury he continues to heal from. C.J. Gardner-Johnson was added to the injury report on Thursday after what head coach Nick Sirianni described on Friday as 'tweaking' his foot. He's questionable for Sunday's contest.
Neither took the field to practice on Friday. AJ Brown has been ruled out of Sunday's contest. C.J. G.J. has been designated as 'questionable'.
The Saints aren't 100% healthy either though.
Four Saints starters have been on the injury report all week. Here's what we learned on Friday.
Pay close attention to wide receiver Rashid Shaheed (hip), cornerback Marshon Lattimore (hamstring), offensive tackle Tallese Fuaga (back), and safety Tyrann Mathieu (heel) as we move towards Sunday at 1 pm EST.
Shaheed was a full participant at Saints practice on Wednesday and Thursday. Lattimore, Fuaga, and Mathieu were all limited on both days. All were full participants on Friday. If we were to guess, we'd assume they may play this Sunday.
Taysom Hill is another of their valuable contributors. He sat out of Wednesday's practice session but practiced in a limited fashion on Thursday. As you can see, he's questionable. So are OT Landon Young (foot), WR A.T. Perry (illness) and DB Will Harris (shin).
If Cedrick Wilson's name looks familiar, it should. He's a former Dallas Cowboys member. He has played 41 offensive snaps this season and another 22 on special teams.
