The Philadelphia Eagles have identified their backup quarterback for the 2024 season, as the team landed Kenny Pickett in a trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Pickett was Pittsburgh's primary starter for the past two seasons, but after the team acquired Russell Wilson he became dispensable. Now, he'll slide into the second spot in Philadelphia behind starting signal-caller Jalen Hurts.

With Pickett in place, the Eagles now appear to have their quarterback depth chart set for 2024. Here's how it looks.

Eagles QB depth chart

QB1: Jalen Hurts

No surprise here. Hurts is entering his fourth season as Philadelphia's full-time starter, and he's enjoyed some serious success in that role thus far. Hurts is coming off of his second straight Pro Bowl appearance, and he was named Second Team All-Pro in 2022 after leading the Eagles all the way to the Super Bowl. He also tied the NFL record for most rushing touchdowns by a quarterback in a season with 15 in 2023.

Hurts, and the Eagles as a team, had an underwhelming end to the '23 campaign, but the 25-year old should be motivated to author a bounce back season, and Philadelphia's additions in free agency so far should help him out.

QB2: Kenny Pickett

After two seasons as the primary starter in Pittsburgh, Pickett will take over second-string duties in Philly. Marcus Mariota held the role last season, but he signed with Washington in free agency, so the Eagles were forced to look elsewhere.

Over his two seasons in Pittsburgh, Pickett threw for 4,474 total yards, 13 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. There will be less pressure on him in Philly than there was on the other side of the state after the Steelers selected him in the first round (20th overall) of the 2022 NFL Draft.

At the end of the day, fans in Philly shouldn't need to see too much of Pickett, as that's kind of the point when it comes to backup QBs. The hope is that he won't have to play much, if at all.

QB3: Tanner McKee

Tanner McKee rounds out Philadelphia's quarterback depth chart. The Eagles selected McKee in the sixth round of the '23 Draft, but he didn't play a single snap for the team last season. With Pickett in place, it seems unlikely that McKee will see the field much, if at all, in 2024.
