The Philadelphia Eagles have only one more preseason game until they have to make must-before-final roster decisions.
Some tough decisions are coming for guys who played well in training camp, but the stats may not show it in the preseason. Some guys are making impacts in other ways that might be hard to ignore on the eye test, even if the stats don't show it.
Philly has five players who may not show it in the stats, but could be impactful if given the chance. Here are five players who are having good preseasons despite the stats not quite showing it.
Which Eagles players are having good preseasons despite the numbers?
Britain Covey, WR (three receptions for 24 yards and one touchdown)
Covey is improving as a receiver, though many know him as a special-teams returner. He caught a nice touchdown pass against the Patriots to pad the stats a bit. It's an interesting question whether Covey still makes the roster, but if he keeps playing well at receiver, it might be easier for him to stay.
Uar Bernard, DT (two tackles)
Credit has to be given to Bernard, who is only two games into his football career after having never played the sport until this year. Although he had no stats in Week 1, he recorded two tackles against the Patriots, showing solid progress. It's a toss-up whether Bernard makes the team, but he is developing faster than many expected.
Cameron Latu, TE (one reception for 14 yards, one tackle)
Latu is always so underappreciated on this team for everything he can do at tight end, fullback, and on special teams. He had a really nice 14-yard reception in the loss to the Patriots. He should keep playing and help this team however they need.
Jose Ramirez, EDGE (five tackles)
Ramirez has looked pretty good for an edge rusher room that hasn't been playing particularly well in two games. What has made Ramirez so good is the number of pressures he is getting on the quarterback, as he is doing it better than any other Eagle on the team. He is playing his way onto at least a spot on the practice squad. His performance is earning him.

Cole Payton, QB (5-of-10 for 47 yards and one touchdown, three carries for 45 yards)
Payton got one drive in the Patriots game, and he fumbled on that drive, but overall, he's looked good for a rookie with only one full year of starter experience in college. His touchdown pass to Erik Ezukanma in the preseason opener against the Baltimore Ravens was an NFL throw. Payton should get plenty of reps in the last game of the preseason, but even though it doesn't look like anything to get excited about, he's done better than Andy Dalton at least.
