Quinyon Mitchell highlights list of notable Eagles snubs from the Pro Bowl roster

Six Eagles are voted onto the Pro Bowl roster. We aren't satisfied. We feel there should have been more.

The Pro Bowl roster has been introduced. A half-dozen Philadelphia Eagles have been voted in this year. We mentioned our theories on guys we thought should be added as first-timers. The results are in, and there aren't many surprises about the guys fans voted for.

We mentioned our theories Congratulations to Saquon Barkley, Zack Baun, Jalen Carter, Landon Dickerson, Lane Johnson, and Cam Jurgens. This is Baun, Carter, and Jurgens' first time being included. All six Birds are deserving. All should be applauded for great seasons.

But that isn't why we've gathered you here. As far as we're soncerned the list looks a tad slim.

We demand a recount on behalf of several Eagles we feel were snubbed in the voting process.

You read the title. Six isn't enough! And, while some of you may retort by stating 'you can't send everyone', we'd offer a difference of opinion. Why in the heck, can't they?

We could stop right there, but we won't. You probably already know where this is headed. Most years, when we discuss the NFL's all-star team, we discuss the glaring omissions.

'They don't like us! We don't care!' It's one of Philly's rallying calls. It's also void of fact sometimes. We sometimes care a little bit.

You probably don't need to be reminded of this, but there are 32 NFL franchises. Yeah, we know... That's groundbreaking stuff there, right? Sure, you can find a star or two on every squad. No one cares about that. We're here to argue on behalf of our guys.

So, with that said, you had to know this was coming. Here is our annual list of 'Guys who got screwed in the voting process'. On behalf of the following Eagles, we demand a recount.

Quinyon Mitchell

Forget everything you know about Quinyon Mitchell for a second. Just grade him blindly based on what you have seen week after week. Doesn't that look like an all-star to you?

Phrases like 'Quinyonomo Bay' exist for a reason. He has been better than advertised, and we already had high expectations. This dude didn't give up a touchdown in coverage until Week 16, and he has only allowed two this season.

Jordan Mailata

Jordan Mailata is Pro Football Focus's highest-graded NFL tackle and has been for most of the regular season.

That's it. That's the argument, that and our continued mentions of the 'eyeball test'. This is clearly one of the best left tackles in the game. He still has yet to make his first Pro Bowl, and that's unacceptable.

Jalen Hurts (2nd alternate)

We're still not understanding where the Jalen Hurts disrespect comes from. Sure, he has areas he can work on, but that can be stated about every NFL quarterback. Jalen wins. He sets new standards weekly, and he doesn't turn the ball over.

We won't argue with Jared Goff's inclusion. Jayden Daniels and Sam Darnold are both good, damn good. Daniels and Darnold aren't better than Jalen Hurts though.

A.J. Brown (1st alternate)

The stats aren't representative of what we have grown accustomed to with A.J. Brown, but he also hasn't been targeted as often as we've seen since his arrival. Even still, he was targeted fewer than 100 times and still eclipsed 1,000 yards on an offense that fielded a running back that notched 2,005 rushing yards.

Come on. What are we doing here?

Josh Sweat (1st alternate)

Josh Sweat endured a slow start and went on to solidify himself as one of the game's top edge rushers. We're scratching our heads about him being ignored. He's seemingly always affecting plays in some manner.

He has tallied eight sacks on the season, but even when he isn't introducing the opposing QB to the turf, he, like Jalen Carter, is consistently creating havoc. Look no further than his 54 total pressures on 408 pass-rush snaps.

Yep! That looks like a Pro Bowler to us.

Braden Mann (4th alternate)

Braden Mann uncorked 51 punts this season, averaged 48.9 yards per boot, and only wound up with seven touchbacks because he dropped 18 punts inside the 20-yard line. He just has a talent for pinning the other team back, and in a league where most of the punters suck, he has managed to prove himself as a special teams weapon.

Yep, we're still beating the drum for DeVonta Smith.

Damn what the numbers or the stats tell you. Use the eyeball test. You can't name a better duo than Brown and DeVonta Smith. The latter may have had a slightly disappointing year in terms of statistical production, but he's been snubbed a few times. We believe he's owed an inclusion or two on general principle. At a minimum, the league, fans, and voters owe him at least two Pro Bowl nominations.

Heck, undeserving guys get voted on these lists all the time, and we'll take an extra nomination or two. You know... It's kind of like a make-up date.

DeVonta has been penalized at least twice because he has another elite talent playing wideout on the other side of the formation, but keeping him off the list just because 'we don't want to send two Eagles WRs to the Pro Bowl is unacceptable.

He, Mailata, and Mitchell shouldn't be penalized because they have great teammates and 'there are already six Eagles' on the roster, nor should they be snubbed because there are theories that 'we want to spread the love around and be fair'.

Those are the only reasons these guys wouldn't be included. Maybe we're jaded, but that's our story and we're sticking to it. Again... We demand a recount!
