The Philadelphia Eagles vs. Washington Commanders affair began as if it would evolve into a blowout win for the visiting team. What followed after Philly got out to a 14-0 lead was a typical NFC East slugfest.

Jalen Hurts left with a head injury. So did Will Shipley. Josh Sweat entered the locker room early and was questionable to return at this story's publishing.

Jordan Davis suffered what appeared to be a lower-body injury and had to be assisted to the sideline. The good news is he returned. He was back on the field with the special teams unit during the Jake Elliott field goal to end Philly's first drive of the third quarter.

Nakobe Dean spent time in the medical tent. The buzz that followed that 14-point outburst left quickly. If Philly wins the NFC east by winning this one, they know they will have done so by surviving and advancing.

Jake Elliott missed a 56-yard field goal attempt to end the first half. He's now 0-6 from beyond 50 yards this season. Oh, and an impressive streak by one of the Eagles good young rookies has ended, but how about a hand for the former Toledo star?

Quinyon Mitchell finally gives up a TD reception.

Quinyon Mitchell has nothing to hang his head about. Hey, all streaks end at some point, right? But, Philly's 2024 first-round selection has finally been beaten for a touchdown.

Terry McLaurin is one of the best wide receivers in the business. Truthfully, there's no shame in getting beaten by him. Q got the best of their head-to-head matchups at Lincoln Financial Field, but the veteran took the youngster's measure.

At first glance, it appears Mitchell thought McLaurin might break inside. Instead the veteran beat the rookie with a post route, but let's think about what Q has accomplished.

His list of victims reads like a who's who of star NFL receivers. No one was able to find the end zone vs. him until Week 16.

That sounds like a damn good start to his NFL career to us. He still has our vote for the Defensive Rookie of the Year trophy.
