Ranking Eagles' top cornerback options once the top 4 prospects are drafted

Once the top four cornerback options are off the board, the Eagles will still have some solid draft options, and they've already spoken to two of the expected available options on this list.

And, just like that, it's quiet again, but that doesn't mean the Philadelphia Eagles aren't working. As a matter of fact, we believe the opposite to be true. These are typically the times they announce that Howie Roseman has made some mind-boggling trade and pulled yet another rabbit out of his cap.

We've ventured under two weeks. The 2025 NFL Draft, pro football's 90th edition, is scheduled to run from Thursday, April 24 until Saturday, April 26. Don't blink. Expect anything because you can best believe there will be some surprises.

Take last April for example. We spent most of our pre-draft discussions stating there was no way Philly would have an opportunity to land Quinyon Mitchell. We didn't even venture into any theories that they'd land Q AND Cooper DeJean.

The thought never crossed our minds. If it did, we would have ignored the idea, but look at what happened.

They landed Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean.

As good as they have been already, they'll need help moving forward as Philly moved on from Darius Slay, Isaiah Rodgers, and Avonte Maddox during the first wave of free agency. Dare we say it? The Birds need to use at least one of their picks during this draft to add reinforcements.

Here are the 2025 NFL Draft's top four cornerbacks

If you're like most, you've identified Philly's most pressing roster needs: edge rusher, tackle, guard. Some would even go as far as to say there's a need for depth at wide receiver, running back, the defensive line's interior, and safety, among other areas.

We still can't forget about their needs at cornerback. After Q and Coop, Adoree' Jackson, Parry Nickerson, Eli Ricks, Kelee Ringo, and Tariq Castro-Fields are the other guys on the roster playing the position.

While that's a solid stack of bodies, investing some draft capital into the position won't hurt. Here are the guys who figure to go early, as they're the top four prospects in this class at the position.

Travis Hunter, Colorado Buffaloes

The 2024 Heisman Trophy winner won't have to wait long to ear his name called in Round 1. Perhaps you have heard. Not only is he a solid corner. He's also one of the top receivers entering the NFL.

Will Johnson, Michigan Wolverines

The six-foot-two, 194-pound Will Johnson returned a critical interception for a TD in Week 1 of the Wolverines season. He'd tack on another pick-six in 2024 en route to Second-Team All-Big Ten honors and a Second-team All-American mention.

Benjamin Morrison, Notre Dame Fighting Irish

A hip injury ended Morrison's season after six games, but he still ranks among the top five prospects at corner. Some, however, have mentioned the possibility of him sliding out of Round 1.

Jahdae Barron, Texas Longhorns

Jahdae Barron, at five-foot-11 and 194 pounds, grades as a good slot receiver, but some team sources believe he may be valued too highly and will struggle playing man coverage at football's highest level.

Ranking the Eagles top realistic cornerback options

That being said, here are the top five (and most realistic) cornerback options for Philly at the 32nd selection or later.

1. Trey Amos, Ole Miss Rebels

Amos just turned 23 and is one of the more experienced prospects in this class. He has appeared in 61 NCAA games and has seen three programs' locker rooms (Louisiana, Alabama, and Ole Miss). Transferring to the SEC was just what the doctor ordered. He flashed with the Crimson Tide and earned First-Team All-SEC honors during the most recent season at Ole Miss.

Philly hosted him on a pre-draft Top 30 visit, so they are definitely showing interest in him.

2. Maxwell Hairston, Kentucky Wildcats

We've said this often, perhaps too much, but it's wise to pay attention to which the Birds host on these Top 30 visits, especially as of late. Those are the guys who often find their names scribbled on draft cards. Look no further than Kelee Ringo, Cooper DeJean, and Quinyon Mitchell for evidence.

Like Amos, Hairston sat down with Philly for a pre-draft visit. While it seems as though the early rounds are too early to invest in a corner, it's clear the Birds are thinking about it.

3. Shavon Revel, East Carolina Pirates

Here's the big fish in a small pond. Or, would it be more appropriate to call him a big fish in an even bigger pond? Oh well... Shavon Revel is a baller and one of the more highly-touted guys in this class.

There is one concern, and it's of the medical variety. He tore an ACL in practice, and that ended his season after only three games. He's a big-bodied guy (six-foot-two and 194 pounds) who can muscle anyone. He's also deceptively quick for a man who is his size.

4. Darien Porter, Iowa State Cyclones

While he isn't quite the player that Travis Hunter is, Darien Porter might be a nice consolation prize. He was recruited as a wide receiver and cracked the roster as such (2020-21), but made the transition to DB in 2022 to play on defense full time.

The position switch was a wise idea as he's now been given Day 2 grades. He's also one of the experienced guys (63 career games), and he's long at rangy, standing at six-foot-four.

5. Azareye'h Thomas, Florida State Seminoles

There's a lot to like here, even if you tuned out on Florida State and stopped watching their games early. Azareye'h Thomas is worth the price of admission. He flew under the radar thanks to his program's disappointing season, but he'll hear his name called by an NFL team during the draft, presumably on Day 2 in Round 2.
