Revisiting Nick Wright's off base theory on Eagles decision to sign Saquon Barkley

Maybe Nick Wright should change his name. That's all we can come up with. We've joked around about this but only in certain circles, never publicly. Calling him 'Nick Wrong' would be more appropriate. Have you ever heard this guy offer a take on the Philadelphia Eagles.

Revisiting every off-base theory 'Mr. Wrong' has offered about the Birds over the years would honestly take too long. We'd need another 2,000 words and three other stories to get around to everything. We'll just give you two that come to mind.

One was birthed during the playoff run that ended with Philly's first Vince Lombardi Trophy. The other was offered after the announcement of Saquon Barkley's signing.

We revisit another Eagles take butchered by Nick Wright.

"I think every team has a shot (at winning the Super Bowl) except for the number-one seed, Philly". Those were Nick Wright's words after Carson Wentz was lost for the season and NIck Foles and company began their quest for a title.

You all know how that ended up, right?

Most of us stopped watching First Things First many moons ago. Nick's takes can be, shall we say, annoying. We understand the game though.

Much like we've seen Stephen A. Smith build part of his brand by bashing Dallas Cowboys fans, Wright has planted his flag and determined he will take the anti-Eagles route. Maybe it has worked for him. Maybe it hasn't, but he is more visible now than he once was. He's also someone FOX Sports has determined they'd like to build part of their FS daily sports lineup around.

First Things First is very popular. Honestly, we believe Chris Broussard is more of the reason for that, but give credit where it is due. Wright's takes can be a conversation piece.

You see we're talking about him now, right?

We'd like to offer further evidence of his football illiteracy though. Remember his thoughts after the Eagles signed Saquon Barkley?

Again... We all see how things worked out, right? In his first season in Philly. Saquon is on the verge of breaking Eric Dickerson's single-season rushing record. He's the ninth player in NFL history to eclipse 2,000 yards rushing. The other eight are O.J. Simpson, Eric Dickerson, Barry Sanders, Terrell Davis, Jamal Lewis, Chris Johnson, Adrian Peterson, and Derrick Henry.

We'd like to take this opportunity to congratulate Nick Wright. Well done sir! You've hit the nail on the head again. Take the 'L'. We'll sure we'll see more in the future.
