Multiple good news are coming from the Philadelphia Eagles trading for quarterback Sam Howell, which will make everyone happy.

NFL insiders Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport reported the Eagles traded two draft picks to the Minnesota Vikings in exchange for Howell and a Day 3 draft pick. It's a move that needed to be made, as the Eagles are dealing with a finger injury to their backup quarterback, Tanner McKee.

The other side to this is a familiar face of the Eagles lands a new job with the Vikings. Pelissero added that the Vikings have signed quarterback Carson Wentz in the process.

Eagles fans remember Wentz well as he lands the backup job in Minnesota

Wentz is all too familiar with the Eagles after he was selected second overall in the 2016 NFL Draft to be the franchise quarterback. It all started well as in his second season, Wentz was considered an MVP candidate before his devastating ACL injury that knocked him out for the season. The Eagles still managed to win their first Super Bowl with Nick Foles as the starter, but Wentz's career started to take a nose-dive.

The next two seasons saw Wentz still put up respectable numbers, but he struggled to stay healthy. He missed five games in 2018 with injury and was knocked out of the NFC Wild Card game in 2019 against the Seattle Seahawks.

This sparked the Eagles to select Jalen Hurts in the second-round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Wentz would have the worst season of his career with 16 touchdowns and 15 interceptions with a 3-8-1 record as a starter. He was replaced by Hurts and the Eagles have never looked back.

During the 2021 offseason, Wentz was traded from the Eagles to the Indianapolis Colts where he spent one season. He would go on to play for the Washington Commanders, Los Angeles Rams, Kansas City Chiefs, and now the Vikings.

There are Eagles connections to the Vikings' staff as well, with Wentz's 2019 backup quarterback, Josh McCown, the QB coach for Minnesota. It'll be a good spot for Wentz to back up J.J. McCarthy, and the Vikings have an insurance policy in case it goes south with their new franchise quarterback.

Eagles fans may have mixed emotions for Wentz, but it's good to see him back on a roster and a chance to make an impact on a team.
