That was a brutal way to end a season. In a year filled with frustrating offensive performances, it felt fitting that the Philadelphia Eagles saw their playoffs cut short because of their offense's inability to move the ball when it mattered most. The Birds fell short against the San Francisco 49ers, losing 23-19 at home.
This season always felt destined for this kind of finish, despite the overwhelming talent on this roster. Still, the inevitability of the loss doesn't make it any less painful for Eagles fans.
The 49ers were ruthless after the game, adding insult to injury with a devastatingly accurate social media post.

It's just a joking social media post, but it drives the defeat home for Eagles fans. This team can no longer be trusted to put their talent advantage into effect, even at home. They were outplayed by a San Francisco team that was missing multiple star players. The 49ers were missing their top two defenders, Fred Warner and Nick Bosa, but the Eagles still couldn't find a way to string successful offensive drives together.
On the other side of the ball, San Francisco was missing key pass-catching options like Ricky Pearsall. After losing George Kittle in the middle of the game, Brock Purdy was throwing to unknown receivers. Still, his offense was enough to overcome the Eagles.
It's clear that the Eagles can't keep relying on talent to win big games. Whether you blame it on the coaching, the quarterback, or the offensive line, Philadelphia's offense simply isn't good enough. Changes will have to come this offseason if the Eagles are going to right the ship in 2026.
Even worse, playing at home doesn't seem to be much of an advantage for the Eagles anymore. They went just 5-3 at home this year after going 8-1 in 2024. They were actually better on the road than they were at home this season, with a record of 6-3.

The 49ers' post on social media sums up the game's result, but it hints at the underlying issue with this Eagles team. They aren't consistent or dominant enough to win difficult games, whether they're at home or on the road.
