Philadelphia Eagles fans were sent into another frenzy, as has become tradition this offseason, after wide receiver A.J. Brown gave everyone a scare.
While appearing on former NFL players Julian Edelman and Rob Gronkowski's "DudesOnDudes" podcast, Brown winked about Edelman saying, "Just remember, we're all Patriots." Of course, this caught every Eagles fan's attention as another sign that Brown could reunite with his old head coach, Mike Vrabel, with the New England Patriots.
After that came out, it was the Philly sports media that decided to believe that this was going to be the end of his time with the Eagles. At least someone on the team came out and eased everyone's mind.
Saquon Barkley comes to the rescue regarding A.J. Brown's comments
While appearing on ESPN's "NFL Live" show, Eagles running back Saquon Barkley was asked by Dan Graziano about Brown's comments on the podcast. Barkley made sure to calm the Eagles fans down and not overreact, as he let them in on a secret.
"I will say this, I do not want to speak for A.J. Brown. Love him as a teammate and a brother, but he is a huge Patriots fan. He is one of those guys, as growing up, I was a Jets fan. My dad has a Jets tattoo. I was able to kind of move on now when I got to the NFL, but he's always been a Patriots fan, and I think this year, I think before Dallas, Tom Brady, he was throwing him the ball, so for him, he was like a kid in a candy store. So that wink was just all fun and games, but I will give the inside scoop that A.J. Brown is a big Patriots fan."
Graziano responded by asking if the Eagles fans should be panicked by Brown's comments. Barkley kept the answer short and straight to the point.
"No, I don't think so."
Brown has been the subject of trade rumors after a report surfaced early in the offseason stating he had requested a trade multiple times during the season. Since then, Brown has spent the offseason giving interviews and seems more inclined to stay in Philly than to leave.

This in no way will stop the media from pushing the obsession over Brown being traded, but at least for the time being, Barkley helped quiet the chatter for one day.
