Saquon Barkley's philanthropy further entrenches him as a beloved Eagles legend

Every time we think we can't possibly find another reason to admire Saquon Barkley more, he goes and does something else.

Though he's only been here for a year, Saquon Barkley will forever be remembered as a Philadelphia Eagles legend. He'll probably have enjoyed a longer tenure with the New York Giants when he finally hangs up the cleats, but they're now a footnote in his current story.

Think about that for a second. It kind of makes one wonder where he'd ranked historically already had Big Blue not wasted his talent, but you know the saying. It's not how you start. It's how you finish. And, the reigning Offensive Player of the Year is making up for lost time on the field and off.

Saquon Barkley continues his philanthropic ways, this time hosting Philly-area students at an Applebee's.

There's so much to like about Saquon. There's his humility and mild manner. There's also what he does on the football field, but it's hard to ignore his passion for being a father, family man, and dedicated member of the community.

We've seen him work a shift at Raising Cane's. Not too long after that, he missed the 66th Maxwell Football Club Awards to take his daughter to a daddy-daughter dance he had to reschedule.

Recently, some Philly area students had the time of their lives being served burgers by the reigning NFL Offensive Player of the Year at an area Applebee's before heading outdoors so some of them could challenge him to a footrace.

In a world where people are guilty of false humility and use charity to further their own brand, Saquon Barkley continues to be a breath of fresh air. We've never asked him this, but while Pro Bowl nominations and First-Team All-Pro nods are impressive, something about his nature leads us to believe that these are the moments of which he is most proud of.

He's played one season in Eagles green, but he has more than earned his wings already. What makes us smile is the lengths he goes to attempting to help young Birds fans earn theirs.
