One of the most noticeable aspects of the Philadelphia Eagles' horrendous 24-21 loss to the Dallas Cowboys was a lack of a running game.
It was one of the worst performances of the season for the Eagles on the ground as they had 18 carries for 63 yards and two touchdowns, averaging just 3.5 yards per carry. The bad part about it was that running back Saquon Barkley had his worst rushing game as an Eagle, as he had 10 carries for 22 yards, averaging a miserable 2.2 yards per carry.
After the game, Barkley was asked multiple questions about the offense's struggles, and that's when he got tired of hearing the excuses. He did what he has done best this year: take accountability.
"I'm tired of the excuse of people trying to stop the run game. I don't really subscribe to that. Just got to be better. Got to make plays."

How much is the Eagles' loss on Barkley and the running game?
Eagles fans hate being negative about Barkley since he did everything for this team last year, but in this Cowboys game, he was not good. The only good part of his game was that he had seven receptions for 52 yards out of the backfield.
Barkley made arguably the biggest mistake in the game when he fumbled the ball on a reception that was recovered by the Cowboys. While Dallas had to punt it on that drive, the Eagles were driving inside the Cowboys' 40-yard field and were in a position to at least get a field goal before Barkley's fumble.
Some of the blame has to go on the offensive line as well. That unit has not played well at all this year, and with their best offensive lineman, Lane Johnson, out due to injury, it's only going to get tougher.
Of course, Eagles offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo has to get some blame as well, as this is basically the same offense, and he has wasted the talent on this unit. His lack of consistency with play-calling and getting into the flow of the game has hurt this team dramatically.

It's game 11, and Eagles fans are still waiting for this running game and Barkley to get consistent on the field. At this point, Philly might have to accept this is the offense now, and it's nowhere near what it was in 2024.
