This new-look Philadelphia Eagles offense has brought in a mixed bag of performances so far in training camp.
Eagles franchise quarterback Jalen Hurts is still trying to gel with the team's new wide receivers. Hurts is also trying to get on the same page with new offensive coordinator Sean Mannion on play-calling and the scheme.
Moments in camp have shown that this offense's potential is out of this world. One new addition to the offense is looking like the guy who could finally have his breakout season in the NFL.
Eagles are loving what they are seeing so far in Dontayvion Wicks
Starting running back Saquon Barkley appeared on the "Up & Adams" show, where he spoke with Kay Adams about what training camp has been like so far. Adams noticed that Barkley was working out as a defensive back with Wicks. Barkley shared that Wicks was teaching him a few things, which led to the former Offensive Player of the Year praising his new teammate.
"First of all, Tay (Dontayvion Wicks) is a steal," Barkley said. "I don't like speaking, you know, too high because I don't want to put too much pressure, but like this guy can handle it and I love everything that he's about. Shout out to Howie (Roseman) again. I don't know how we got him for whatever round we traded for, but he is just not even like, he just brings like a, you know, a different type of energy for the wide receiver group and not just, you know, he's a violent route runner and he's violent catching the ball, but he also put his face in there and block at a high level. So I'm excited."
Throughout the first three years of his NFL career, Wicks has been relatively quiet while playing for the Green Bay Packers. Wicks has caught 108 passes for 1,328 yards and 11 touchdowns. Each season, his receiving yards have gone down, leading to a 30-reception, 332-yard, and two-touchdown 2025 campaign, the worst of his career.
When the Eagles traded for Wicks, it made a ton of sense at the time. Wicks would physically replace A.J. Brown as the outside receiver in the starting lineup, and he knew Mannion's scheme from when the two were together in Green Bay the last two years.
Little did Eagles fans know the kind of impact Wicks would make in the passing game early on in training camp. Almost daily, there are reports of Wicks having a great catch and being in sync with Hurts. Wicks' new quarterback even said earlier this week that the young receiver has "got it."

It's been a joy for Eagles fans to see how great Wicks has been so far, and it's proving to be a great move made by Roseman to land him in a trade for cheap. Philly might have something special in their offense with Wicks as long as he keeps playing at the high level he is at right now.
