Over 45,000 Philadelphia Eagles fans packed Lincoln Financial Field to watch what the offense was going to look like before the 2026 season starts.
Most of the time, the preseason doesn't indicate much since teams don't want to show off their best plays or get too much on tape. Practice is usually a better time to do that, and while the offense stayed a bit vanilla since it was more public, it still showed some things Eagles fans can prepare for.
Eagles offensive coordinator Sean Mannion has brought a new scheme that will include more RPO plays, passes in the middle of the field, pre-snap motions, and more. The offense added some new wrinkles that fans got to see firsthand.

During public practice at The Linc, Mannion called a play with Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert lined up in a different position. The Athletic's Brooks Kubena discussed Goedert's change-of-pace role.
"Dallas Goedert just got a look as the H-back in the off-set I. Sean Mannion has played it close to the vest about whether they’ll have a fullback."
The Eagles have been looking at Cameron Latu and Carson Steele as potential options at the fullback position. Mannion hasn't committed to a fullback on the team, but he said he values guys who can play multiple positions.
This could be the first sign that Mannion is looking at Goedert as a fullback option in a heavy formation or when the team needs a yard or two on the ground. It might mean backup tight end Johnny Mundt lining up as the tight end and lead blocker on an off-tackle or outside run.
Philly's offense has used fullbacks before. They are big on the goal line and are used, and at times are used, on Tush Pushes to help move Jalen Hurts.
It'll be something to monitor throughout the week, as the fullback plan will be clear after the Eagles' preseason game against the Cincinnati Bengals. If Latu or Steele ends up making the 53-man roster, they could be the option at fullback. Without those two, Goedert will likely take over that role.
Mannion also called a play where rookie first-round pick Makai Lemon lined up in the backfield and ran a wheel route. It threw the Eagles' defense off their game because Lemon was wide open for a touchdown.
This could help the Eagles give different looks in the passing game. It might open the door for wide receiver Darius Cooper to be on the field if the defense has to respect Lemon as a weapon in the passing game. They might even throw Hollywood Brown out there to send him deep on a route for a big play as well and use Lemon as a decoy.

Eagles fans should like seeing Mannion being so innovative with the offense and trying different things. It's only going to make them better as a unit, not make them more predictable than they were last year.
