The Philadelphia Eagles take a major hit on their opening drive of the Week 2 showdown against the Tennessee Titans with Saquon Barkley getting hurt.
Barkley was stuffed at the line of scrimmage for a loss, but multiple bodies, including Lane Johnson, fell on top of him. During the broadcast, a clip showed Barkley running into the locker room, and the Eagles have since confirmed that he is questionable with a stinger.
With Barkley out of the game, the Eagles will now turn to Tank Bigsby and Will Shipley to carry the load. Bigsby, in particular, finally gets his shot.

Bigsby only had one carry for three yards in the 24-22 win over the Washington Commanders. Oddly enough, Shipley had more carries than Bigsby in the game with two for four yards.
The Eagles now face a situation where they don't have their most important offensive weapon on the field. They will look to their two versatile backs to step up to the plate.
Last year, Bigsby averaged 5.9 yards per carry and was a more efficent runner than Barkley was. The combination of speed and vision helped Bigsby have a lot of success in 2025.
This season so far, the Eagles wanted to focus more on Barkley getting all the carries in the running game. That has frustrated fans similar to last year, as they want Bigsby to get more touches in the offense.
As for Shipley, he will be more of a third down back for the Eagles and be used more in passing situations. He has been quite the weapon for the Eagles, but has also been underutilized in the offense.
The Eagles are going to need both running backs to step on the field and make some plays. Even if Barkley returns from injury against Tennessee, Bigsby and Shipley will get more reps on the field. There will be concern to get Barkley more hurt than he is now, so the touches for their leading back will go down.

This is the opportunity Bigsby has been waiting for over the last year with the Eagles and might finally prove to everyone that he can get the job done. Eagles fans will have to wait and see if he takes advantage of it.
