Philadelphia Eagles fans came away very impressed with offensive coordinator Sean Mannion in his first public comments since taking the job.
Mannion addressed multiple answers on his new offensive scheme and his quarterback, Jalen Hurts. There was one interesting fact about what everyone seemed to have noticed right away about Mannion's answers: three different times in the press conference, he repeated the word "blend."
"There's things I believe in, and there's things that schematically I have a background in, but ultimately it's going to be a blend," Mannion said via The Athletic's Zach Berman.
Sean Mannion's word of the day was "blend" for Eagles' offense
It appears that his repeated use of "blend" suggests he wants to take some of the old and mix it with the new. That's a smart approach for the new play caller to take in his first season on the job.
Mannion has the Eagles undergoing a massive transformation on offense that will require them to learn a completely new, complex scheme. This style of offense is more popular in the modern game, as it has been used by guys like Sean McVay, Kyle Shanahan, and Matt LaFleur.
Throughout Nick Sirianni's tenure as head coach, the Eagles have been known for running a ground-and-pound offense. The hope is that Mannion can come in right away and change that by opening up the offense more with the passing game and spreading defenses out.
Mannion has the background to get it done, having run these offenses as a longtime backup quarterback in the NFL. He's also coached it over the last two years while working with the Green Bay Packers quarterbacks on LaFleur's staff.

The Eagles will love to see Mannion's "blend" offense blended in with some wins and a Super Bowl title in his first season with the team.
