After a horrible way to end the season for the Philadelphia Eagles, everyone is being evaluated for how they played during the 2025 season.

It was clear that the team took a massive step back on all three phases of the game. Too many players regressed in their play on the field, and it showed in the record and in their performance in the 23-19 loss to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Wild Card.

There are four players who regressed in 2025 and may never be their former selves.

Jahan Dotson, WR

Technically, Jahan Dotson put up better numbers in 2025 than in 2024, but it wasn't by much, as he had 262 yards and one touchdown. For someone who is 25 years old, fans would think Dotson would only be getting better, but as the number three receiver, he essentially did nothing to help the offense, aside from the lone touchdown he caught in the second New York Giants game. He will be a free agent with very little hope of returning to Philly in 2026.

Kelee Ringo, CB

This was the year Kelee Ringo was finally going to take a step forward, as he slowly improved over the years, with his 6-foot-2 stature an attractive feature for the Eagles to keep him on the roster. Not only did he get outplayed by Adoree' Jackson for the CB2 job, but it wasn't even close, as Ringo got chewed up and spit out at the position. Philly loves what he can do on special teams, but he will never be a starter on defense unless injuries happen.

Sydney Brown, S

Going into training camp, Eagles fans were hopeful that Sydney Brown would finally emerge and take over the starting safety job against a rookie in Andrew Mukuba. Brown managed to get worse in coverage as he lost the job and was reduced to a special teams gunner with 34 tackles on the year. Hope is all lost for Brown after another season in which he regressed and won't be in any running for a starting job anytime soon.

Saquon Barkley, RB

This is the one that might catch the most attention, but it was a bad regression for Saquon Barkley, who went from 2,005 yards in 2024 to 1,140 yards in 2025. It was clear from how he played that the vision and quickness to hit the open holes were not there, and some of the blame fell on the offensive line.

His stats were still not bad, but he set a new standard on how he can play in 2024, and the 2025 campaign did not live up to those expectations. Running backs tend to regress as they get older, so if Barkley has another season like 2025, don't expect the Eagles to cough up any more money on him.
