When times have gotten tough for the Philadelphia Eagles fan base during the 2025 season, they just try to remember the previous two Super Bowls they have won. The fans were just reminded of the first one in the best way possible.

With the conference championships set up in the NFL playoffs, the New England Patriots will square off against the Denver Broncos in the AFC title game. The Broncos found out that starting quarterback Bo Nix broke is ankle and is out for the season, with backup quarterback Jarrett Stidham taking over.

Former Eagles quarterback Nick Foles took to social media to share his thoughts on the situation. Foles wanted to remind everyone of the Patriots' recent history of facing off against backup quarterbacks in the biggest moments.

"Note for the Broncos and their fans: I know it has been an emotional 24 hours. I feel for Bo and the team, and I'm sending prayers for a strong recovery. A positive note going into the game versus the Patriots is that they struggle against backup QBs in championship-type games."

Nick Foles has a quick reminder of the Eagles' 2017 Super Bowl championship season

Eagles fans remember that fondly, as that 2017 season featured Carson Wentz's horrific torn ACL late in the season and Foles' heroic finish. Foles would lead the Eagles to a 41-33 win over Tom Brady and Bill Belichick's Patriots team in one of the biggest upsets in Super Bowl history.

While the situation isn't quite the same, the Broncos still have a massive hill to climb without Nix to beat a very good and complete Patriots team. Stidham has a chance to pull a Nick Foles-style moment and lead the Broncos to the Super Bowl.

Even though this Broncos team beat the Eagles 21-17 earlier in the season, after the comments made by Foles, there might be some Philly fans pulling for the Broncos to beat New England, as they know what it's like to make a Super Bowl run on the shoulders of a veteran backup quarterback.
