The Philadelphia Eagles might be over a month away from training camp, but there are players who are already in serious trouble.
For Eagles general manager Howie Roseman, it's a good problem to have since the team has depth at pretty much all their positions, so good players are competing for jobs. It's a credit to the Eagles' front office, but the players are probably not the biggest fans of all the other guys they have to fight off to keep their jobs.
Philly is looking at five players who will have their hands full in training camp and could be cut. If they don't perform well in training camp and preseason, they will be looking for jobs elsewhere.
Jakorian Bennett, CB
Riq Woolen and Jonathan Jones have made it impossible for Bennett to get any kind of playing time now, but it doesn't help that he is on the roster bubble for the Eagles. Bennett will have to compete with Mac McWilliams for a roster spot, which is no guarantee for the young veteran, given that the Eagles selected McWilliams. There's a chance that Bennett might not even make the cut.
Andre' Sam, S
Cooper DeJean playing safety in base defense will not help Sam's chances of making the roster, but factoring in Michael Carter competing with Marcus Epps for a starting safety job and J.T. Gray being one of the best special teams aces in the NFL, this is not going to be easy for Sam. The practice squad could be Sam's future unless he can prove otherwise.
Grant Calcaterra, TE
Dallas Goedert is the starter, but Johnny Mundt also got starting reps as the main blocking tight end. Adding in Eli Stowers as the Eagles' second-round pick, Calcaterra is going to get swallowed up in this tight end room and might end up getting cut because of it.
Dameon Pierce, RB
The Eagles have a very crowded backfield with Pierce battling Will Shipley, a former Eagles draft pick, and Elijah Mitchell, who has experience in Sean Mannion's offense. It feels like unless Pierce is dominant as a running back and kickoff returner in the preseason, there is very little hope he makes the 53-man roster.

Elijah Moore, WR
Moore has years of experience, but he is trying to go up against two young receivers the Eagles are big fans of, Darius Cooper and Johnny Wilson, who are both very good on special teams. Philly would love to keep seven receivers, but Moore feels like he is on the outside looking in at a receiver room that has great special teams players to consider, but not Moore.
