It is no secret that the Philadelphia Eagles' offense hasn't been the same this season. While it was going to be hard to replicate what the unit accomplished under Kellen Moore last year, they've almost fallen off a cliff under Kevin Patullo's tutelage.
Patullo has been made to blame for much of the Eagles' offensive issues, and rightfully so. But Jalen Hurts has also played arguably the worst football of his career, A.J. Brown takes plenty of plays off, and Saquon Barkley doesn't have the burst that he did a year ago.
A lot of the Eagles' offensive issues can also be attributed to the offensive line, which injuries have decimated. After letting Mekhi Becton walk in free agency, Philadelphia's interior depth was always going to be tested, but ailments have piled up on top of that loss.
Troy Aikman and Joe Buck think Eagles should pry Jason Kelce from retirement
Cam Jurgens has already missed two games, and Landon Dickerson missed one earlier in the season. Dickerson also left Week 14's Monday Night Football matchup with a calf injury, and it took him forever to return, so this already-thin unit is on its last legs.
Well, ESPN announcers Troy Aikman and Joe Buck hatched a far-fetched plan centered around legendary Eagles center Jason Kelce, and it might be crazy enough to work. Buck asked whether or not Philly had called about bringing Kelce out of retirement amid the team's injuries.
Aikman then went all-in on the idea, essentially inferring that the Eagles would be fools not to even give Kelce a call.
"I would be surprised if they haven't already (called Kelce) at some point this year," Aikman said. "Even last year, I think I'd be knocking on his door every week to get him to come back. He could still do it."
Of course, Kelce has been retired for almost two years now, so he might have a bit of dust to shake off. But he was still playing at an incredibly high level when he retired, having been on the heels of six First-Team All-Pro selections in a span of seven seasons.
Kelce is, of course, pigeonholed at center, and the Eagles could use a guard more at this point. But Jurgens may not have an issue sliding back over to guard if it meant shoring up Philadelphia's offensive line for the final stretch of the season.

It should be known that Kelce hasn't expressed much desire to come back from retirement, as his seemingly endless off-the-field ventures keep him plenty busy. Kelce also wouldn't lace up his cleats for a depth role; he'd be the instant starter.
While this idea was merely a shot in the dark by Aikman and Buck, there is undoubtedly a sector of Eagles fans who wish it would come true. And, it might just be crazy enough to work.
