The 2024 Philadelphia Eagles were one of the greatest teams in NFL history. It just is what it is.
Through two weeks, the 2025 Eagles certainly aren't that, with many having flashbacks to the collapse that was the 2023 season. Eagles fans will always hold the Eagles under a microscope, and now that they're defending Super Bowl champions, the entire NFL world is as well.
Here's the thing, though, you're allowed to look through a microscope whilst sipping on a glass that's half-full.
While the struggles are there, the Eagles are still off to a good start in 2025
Offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo is already drawing comparisons to Brian Johnson by once-bitten Eagles fans. While the offense hasn't been perfect, fans were sharpening their pitchforks after week four a year ago, too. Things turned out ok.
The big thing is this, though. In 2023, the defense was pretty much in full revolt, and it showed on the field. In 2025, Vic Fangio is here, and the defense has looked very similar to what it did under him in 2024 so far.
That is absolutely colossal. The fact that the defense will be able to pick up the slack while the offense, under a new coordinator, gets its act together is not something to take lightly. After all, offense wins games and defense wins championships.
There's some concern about one of the starting cornerbacks; however, some of that pain can be eased by the emergence of rookie safety Andrew Mukuba. Additionally, the Eagles held Dak Prescott and Patrick Mahomes to under 200 yards passing each (with almost identical totals of 188 and 187 yards, respectively). That isn't nothing.
The Eagles also still have the best offensive line in football, as well, and even though there's bound to be more emphasis on false starts, the Tush Push will still be effective. That is not going to change. It's still the same horses, including Jalen Hurts.
The point is this. The Eagles are sitting at 2-0 with a win in Arrowhead, doing the absolute bare minimum, including barely throwing the ball at all in 2025.

The sky is still well above our heads. Having said that, this upcoming game against Sean McVay's Los Angeles Rams, a coach they have owned in recent years (he's 1-5 against the Philadelphia Eagles), has a chance to be a statement game, and very telling if nothing else.
