Day 1 of Philadelphia Eagles training camp went well for the offense, but since then, there has been a bit of a regression happening.
Their second practice featured a big pass play down the field from Jalen Hurts to Dontayvion Wicks, but otherwise it was an average day for the offense. Things only got worse on Day 3.
The Eagles' offense struggled in their third practice, with the defense showcasing their skills. Pressure on Hurts, incompletions all over the place, and poor red-zone play have raised concerns about the unit's red-zone struggles. But some outside the organization might be panicking a bit too soon.
Eagles being called to make a move when it's way too soon to do so
SportsRadio 94 WIP Eagles reporter Eliot Shorr-Parks took to social media to share a video of himself saying he'd had enough of himself and that he'd had the offense. Shorr-Parks wants Philly to look at making a move on offense.
"So watching them today, I just think at this point it is hard not to feel discouraged about how the start to camp has gone. I know the Eagles are going up against an elite defense, no question about it. But when you run six plays inside the 20, I think you should get in the end zone, or you should at least get close. And they didn't really get close."
"Day 3 didn't offer much hope in terms of where this is going. And the more I watch them, you wonder if they need to trade for a wide receiver or just add some type of playmaking ability for Jalen Hurts. So not a great Day 3"
Something has to be understood with this Eagles offense: everything is new. There are new offensive weapons with Makai Lemon, Wicks, Marquise Brown, Elijah Moore, and Eli Stowers. The coaching staff is pretty much new, led by offensive coordinator Sean Mannion, and he's implementing a completely new scheme.
This Eagles offense had fewer than 10 practices together in OTAs before training camp. They are three practices and one walkthrough in. It's a bit too soon to hit the panic button.
Philly has one of the best defenses in the NFL, so it's a good challenge for the offense to face off again. If they start looking good in the next few weeks, it will only confirm that Mannion has this offense heading in the right direction.
Would a new wide receiver help this offense? It depends on who it is, but it wouldn't hurt. Do the Eagles need to head in that direction yet? No, they don't.

Mannion needs more time with this offense, and Hurts needs time to get everyone on the same page and rolling together. Preseason will be the time to determine whether the Eagles should make a move, but for now, patience is key. There's no reason to start losing it over what has happened so far.
