Top Ten Iggles Plays Of 2007

There were some good times last year believe it or not.

How about the call by Harry? He could probably call a chess match, and make it sound exciting.

Birds Get 3 More Draft Picks

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Breaking News, Draft, Eagles | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

The NFL announced it’s compensatory picks today, and the Eagles were rewarded with 3 of extra draft picks.
The league gives out draft picks to teams that lost more free agents than they gained. The Iggles lost Michael Lewis, Rod Hood, Donte’ Stallworth, and Jeff Garcia, and gained Kevin Curtis and Monate Reagor.
So when you see that they lost a lot more than they gained, the NFL gave the Eagles a 4th round pick(101) and two 6th round picks(200 and 203). This gives the Eagles 11 total draft picks, and you should expect a lot of deals done on draft day.

LJ Smith Getting A New Deal?

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Eagles, Rumors | COMMENTS: 6 Comments

Bob Grotz of the Delco Times says there is a good chance he will. In his recent column he hints that a long term deal with Little John Smith could be imminent. Grotz thinks that the franchise tag placed upon Smith could be parameters for a new contract.
Bob wrote: ‘Don’t be surprised if Smith and the Eagles work out a deal’.
I would be shocked if that happened. Apparently they have been working on an extension for years with Smith, but LJ was dissatisfied with the figures. The report was that the Eagles and Smith were extremely far apart, and contract talks [...]

Chris Johnson is FAST!!!

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Draft, Eagles, Video | COMMENTS: 5 Comments

Speed kills, and RB Chris Johnson from Eastern Carolina is lightning fast. Johnson ran a 4.24 40, and watching his highlights he runs a lot like Brian Westbrook. Johnson is a big time kick returner as well, and I hope the Birds take a chance on him in the 2nd round of the draft. Correll Buckhalter is in his final year as an Iggle, and I would not feel comfortable with Tony Hunt being the only backup.
Here is a nice highlight video of Johnson.

Eagles Sign Kris Wilson

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Breaking News, Eagles | COMMENTS: 8 Comments

The Eagles continued to be busy this off season by signing Kris Wilson for 3 years. Wilson played FB, H-Back, and TE for the Chiefs, but will probably play mostly tight end for the Birds. The 26 year old Pennsylvania native is excited to be a part of the Eagles, and hopes he can contribute right away.
You can catch Kris Wilson’s press conference right here.

Linc’d Up: How Bout Them Sixers!

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Breaking News, Draft, Eagles, Flyers, NFL, News, Off-Topic/Other, Phillies, Rumors, Sixers | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

I love this time of the year for sports. March Madness is in full effect, the Sixers are gearing up for the playoffs, the Phillies are almost ready to kick off the season, and the Eagles are preparing for the draft. There is a lot of hope right now for Philadelphia sports. Well except for the lousy Flyers.
Here are the lincs:

The Iggles Call On Rocky For Help

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Breaking News, Eagles | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

The Eagles signed linebacker Rocky Boiman(not Balboa) today. Boiman has been primarily a backup in his career with the Titans, and most recently the Colts. Boiman should add depth, veteran leadership, and should be a key special teams contributor.
This is not the biggest move, but a team needs to have good role players too. Unless there are a ton of injuries, Rocky will spend most of his playing time on special teams.
Like Dan Klecko, Boiman was a part of the 2006 Colts team that won Super Bowl XLI. He is also the only player on the team that has bright red hair.

Jump On The James Hardy Bandwagon

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Draft, Eagles | COMMENTS: 7 Comments

It’s no secret that the Eagles are looking for a receiver. They tried to sign Randy Moss, but were unable to pry him away from New England. According to rumors they also tried to trade for big time play maker Larry Fitzgerald, but also were unsuccessful. With no free agents available, the Birds are will have to turn to the draft. This draft has a lot of question marks at the receiver position, but to me one guy stands out above the rest.
His name is James Hardy. He is a 6′6″ 220 lb touchdown machine from Indiana. In three years at [...]

Path To The Draft: Eagles On The Clock

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Draft, Eagles, Video | COMMENTS: 5 Comments

NFL Network has been taking a look at every NFL team, and has a team representative from Scout.com predict what each team might do in this upcoming NFL draft. Andrew Pluta from Warnest.com gives his thoughts on what the Eagles need, and who they might draft.

I don’t agree with many of the things Pluta said. The idea of drafting Kenny Phillips at 19 is terrible. While Safety may be a need, I don’t see any safety, including Kenny Phillips being worthy of a first round pick. Pluta then goes on to talk about how the Eagles are looking at WR [...]

Iverson’s Emotional Return To Philly

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Sixers | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

It’s been 15 months since Allen Iverson has last played basketball in Philadelphia. AI played ten years with the Sixers, and is still beloved by Philadelphia fans. As soon as Iverson stepped on the court fans cheered, and showed Allen that they still have a place for them in their hearts. Iverson then dropped to the floor to kiss the Sixers center court logo, and then ran to embrace his former coach Maurice Cheeks.
Then arena lights went dark, and Iverson was announced as the starting point guard for the Denver Nuggets. A sell out crowd of over 20,000 fans gave Iverson a long and loud standing ovation. Iverson fed [...]

Meet Your New Full Back

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Breaking News, Eagles | COMMENTS: 5 Comments

The Eagles signed Dan Klecko for a two year deal yesterday, and plan to have him convert to a full time full back. Since he is not a major star, I thought I would put together just a little bit of information about Klecko for everybody.
Dan is the son of Hall of Fame defensive lineman Joe Klecko, and has followed in the footsteps of his dad, by making a living in the NFL. Dan has been fortunate to play for some great teams, as he has already been a part of 3 Super Bowls in 5 years.
Here is some more info:
