Briere Leads Flyers Past Canadiens 3-2

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Flyers | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Flyers once again blew a two goal lead, but Daniel Briere was the hero, as he scored the game winning goal. Briere has been awesome in the playoffs, and looks like he was the best free agent signing by far.
The Flyers are not as talented and have been outplayed by Montreal, but they are coming away with Ws. The Habs have out shot the Flyers big time, but they have just been unable to score enough goals. Martin Biron has been standing on his head, and is the difference maker in this match up.
The Fly Guys now have a commanding 3-1 series lead.

Flyers Beat Canadiens Despite Terrible Penalty

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Flyers | COMMENTS: None Yet

The refs make an awful call on Darrien Hatcher. That was a normal hit by Hatcher, but because Boullion end up getting hurt, the refs decide to blow the whistle.  They refs kept the whistles in their pockets most of the game, but of course they decide to make that brutal call. Not only was this a penalty, but it was ruled a 5 minute major! This eventually leads to two Montreal goals, and brought Montreal right back into the game. The refs almost took another game away from the Flyers, but they managed to overcome the dumb refs for the victory.
The Fly [...]

TO Can’t Feed His Family Again

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Breaking News, Eagles, NFL, News, Off-Topic/Other | COMMENTS: None Yet

T.O. has still not payed the Eagles the $770,000 he owes them. Terrible Owens lost his arbitration hearing in January, and was told to pay the Eagles the money he owed them.
Since then the Eagles have not seen 1 dime from Owens, and that can only mean one thing. Terrell is having rough times again.
Everybody remembers the last time TO was down on his luck, and he could not afford to put food on the table sometimes. Philadelphia rose to the occasion, and started the Owens Family Food Drive. Thousands of people filled up boxes with canned goods to help [...]

Eagles Select King Dunlap With The 230th Pick

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Breaking News, Draft, Eagles, Video | COMMENTS: None Yet

King Dunlap is a LT from Auburn who was once considered a top prospect. He had a really bad year in 2007 mainly due to a left elbow injury he suffered early in the year. The poor season combined with some minor off the field troubles had Dunlap free fall in the draft to the 7th round. Dunlap has the talent to be good, and the Eagles decided to take a shot on him with their last pick of the draft.
Dunlap has tremendous size at 6′9″ 310 lbs, and can move pretty well on his feet. He is an intriguing prospect, [...]

Eagles Select Andy Studebaker With The 203rd Pick

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Breaking News, Draft, Eagles, Video | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Andy Studebaker is an undersized defensive end, who may convert to linebacker in the NFL.
He reminds me a lot of current Eagle Chris Gocong, and I think they may have him develop into a SAM linebacker to backup Gocong.
Like Gocong, Studebaker played at a small school, and racked up sacks. He is a high energy guy who relentlessly goes after QBs. He also has a knack for making a lot of tackles for loss. For a 7th round pick he is a very intersting find, because he was so productive and has a ton of upside.
Andy is a smart kid [...]

Eagles Draft Joe Mays With The 200th Pick

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Breaking News, Draft, Eagles, Video | COMMENTS: None Yet

Joe Mays is a short stocky MLB who is known for his very physical play on the football field. Mays played at a small school, North Dakota State, but he dominated the competition there.
He is a big hitter, can shed blocks well, and despite average speed he is a tackling machine. On the Eagles will get a shot to battle it out with Pago Tagofu to be the teams backup MLB behind Stewart Bradley.
A good way for Mays to make this team, will be on special teams. He is is excellent in kick off coverage, and could wind up being a special teams captain [...]

Eagles Select Mike Gibson With The 184th Pick

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Breaking News, Draft, Eagles | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

The Iggles added more offensive line depth with the pick of offensive lineman Mike Gibson from Cal. Gibson started at LT for the Golden Bears, but may be better off as a guard in the NFL. Gibson is a very physical run blocker who will add valuable depth to the offensive line.
I think it is very interesting that the Eagles chose two prospects who project to play guard, instead of tackle. Looking ahead for 2009, I think they may like the idea of moving Todd Herremans back to LT, and starting Max Jean-Gilles at guard. Mike Gibson could then find his [...]

Eagles Select Jack Ikegwuonu With The 131st Pick

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Breaking News, Draft, Eagles, Video | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

Jack Ikegwuonu is a first round talent who unfortunately for him tore his ACL prior to the combine. After this devastating injury some felt that Ikegwuonu might go undrafted, but the Eagles saw enough talent in him to take a chance in the 4th.
That was the Eagles first compensatory pick(unable to trade) and I think the Birds got a great prospect.
Jack was a very physical CB who made a lot of play at Wisconsin. He won’t play in 2008, but look for him to make a name for himself in 2009.
Here is Jack’s agent Drew Rosenhaus stating the case for [...]
