Philadelphia Eagles: Your Personal #BirdDay Schedule

facebooktwitterreddit

We have finally reached Dallas week. For the first time since 2008, the Eagles are playing on Thanksgiving Day, and for the first time since 1989, they are playing the Cowgirls on Thanksgiving… I mean Cowgirls.

Families not just across the Delaware Valley, but the whole country will be sitting down for a nice Thanksgiving Day dinner to catch up with their families.

For Philadelphia Eagles fans, however, this means you’ve spent the whole week, if not longer, trying to decide how to plan out your dinner to not interfere with the 4:30 pm kick-off time.

If you haven’t yet figured how you will schedule your dinner around the game, I have created a schedule for you that would allow you and your guests time to enjoy the day, enjoy the company, enjoy the food, and most importantly, enjoy beating up on the Cowboys.

Morning / Preparation

Most normal Thanksgiving Day dinners takes hours to prepare; you can thank that 26 lb. Butterball that has been sitting in your freezer for the past month. You should make sure you get up early to get a head start on preparing your family feast. Preparation is the key to making sure you don’t miss the game.

 Early Afternoon / Guest Arrival

So you’ve got everything ready to go. If you haven’t already, you should tell your guests to arrive around 12:30-1 pm at the latest. This will allow plenty of time for your guests to arrive before you start serving your hors d’oeurves

Dinner

If you want this to work, this is where you must do the most work. Depending on how many courses you plan on serving is when you should start, adjusting the times accordingly. In my household, the hors d’oeurves will be served from 2 pm to 3 pm. While your guests are enjoying themselves, you must make sure that you are finishing up getting the main courses ready. If you are serving a first course, such as a soup or salad, your guests should be seated at 3 pm for the first course, otherwise you have a little more time before serving dinner.

3:15-3:20 seems to be the perfect time to serve dinner. If you serve dinner around this time frame, your guests feel like you are eating closer to 3:30, and in return, don’t feel like you are eating too early like they would if you serve dinner closer to 3 pm.

Serving your dinner around this time also allows your guests ample time to eat, and allows for your uncle to have his third helping; And let’s face it, you want a third, too.

Cleanup

If you’ve followed this format, you should be finishing dinner around 4 pm. Now comes crunch time. I can almost guarantee you will always have people asking to help clean up. With a couple extra hands, you should have everything cleaned up before game-time.

Desert / Game-Time

As 4:30 is nearing, you can serve your desert to be enjoyed during the game.

You’ve made it. Hopefully you’ve had a successful dinner and can now sit back and watch the Eagles tear the Cowboys a new one.

I must give most of the credit to my future wife for most of the help coming up with this schedule.

This schedule was developed so that should the Eagles lose, you have already enjoyed a nice dinner.

Please remember that any Cowboys fans should be placed at the children’s table during dinner.

Happy Thanksgiving and go Eagles!
