The Philadelphia Eagles have finally done what everyone expected would be done for months, pulling the trigger on a trade that sent away star wide receiver A.J. Brown. Brown will join the New England Patriots in a deal that will recoup a 2027 fifth-round pick and a 2028 first-round pick.

Oddly enough, the Eagles are decently well-prepared. Not only do they have Devonta Smith in tow, but they also spent their top two picks in the 2026 NFL Draft on a wide receiver in Makai Lemon and a tight end in Eli Stowers. As such, Philly can focus on beefing up Vic Fangio's defense.

The Eagles could bounce back from this setback and use the extra capital to land an impact player that keeps them as a viable winner, even without Brown. Note: The picks were determined by using Tankathon's NFL Draft order.

Philadelphia Eagles 2-round 2027 NFL Mock Draft after A.J. Brown trade

Round 1, Pick 29: Matayo Uiagalelei, EDGE, Oregon

Uiagalelei would have been a first-round pick had he declared for the 2026 Draft, but he decided to go back to chase a title with the Ducks. The odds of the Eagles picking an edge rusher may have increased after the latest off-field issues with average starter Nolan Smith.

Unlike Smith, Uiagalelei is coming into the NFL with speed questions. He excels by plugging gaps on the edge and using his deep toolbox of pass rush moves to establish himself as an edge presence worth fearing.

Uiagalelei and Smith could be a dynamic edge duo for years to come, but this also leaves the opportunity open for the Eagles to bring in someone of repute who can supplant the former Georgia standout. Either way, Uiagalelei will fit in nicely with Philadelphia's plans.

Round 2, Pick 61: Brice Pollock, CB, Texas Tech

The Eagles may need to go all-in on drafting defensive backs to avoid continuing to plug holes next to Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean with one-year veteran stopgaps. Pollock, who picked off five passes last season, has the ball skills Vic Fangio would love to start developing.

Pollock will need to prove he can be an effective man-cover corner in the NFL, but the turnover generation and versatility he could provide at his apex could make him well worth selection in the second round. The selections of Lemon and Stowers could let the Eagles find their young playmakers on the other side of the ball after the trade.
