The Eagles have selected four safeties in the second round since Jeffrey Lurie became the owner of the team in 1994. The team is currently batting at approximately a .500 success rate at the position, after the disappointment of Jaiquawn Jarrett (2011), the overall “meh” of Nate Allen (2010), the “getting warmer” of Michael Lewis (2002), and the irreplaceable Brian Dawkins (1996). Bucannon can hit, he can cover, and most importantly he brings the physicality and athleticism needed to remove Patrick Chung from the depths of your worst memories from the 2013 season. He just won’t be able to do it in his college jersey number.
