Round 7, No. 214

Colt Lyerla, TE, Oregon

Lyerla’s off-the-field issues have made it questionable if he will be drafted at all in May.  A strong showing at the Combine could have helped his case, and  who better to draft him than his college coach, Chip Kelly.  Kelly knows Lyerla well after having coached him at Oregon and has seen Lyerla’s athleticism and talent firsthand.  While tight end isn’t exactly a position of need for the Eagles, they could draft Lyerla and then release tight end James Casey, who had a ridiculously unproductive first season with the Eagles this past year.

Alternatives: Phillip Gaines, CB, Rice or Hakeem Smith, SS, Louisville
