10. Minnesota Vikings (6-9)
Brandon Scherff
Offensive Tackle, Iowa
The Vikings have found their franchise quarterback (for now) in the form of Teddy Bridgewater. Now they need to protect him better. Their have solid offensive tackles, but adding Scherff to play guard or to move someone else would take this offensive line to the next level.
11. New Orleans Saints (6-9)
Cedric Ogbuehi
Offensive Tackle, Texas A&M
Ogbuehi has had and should continue to have a continuously changing projection. His raw skills should keep him high in the projections. The Saints have some needs on defense, but with safety Jairus Byrd set to return from injury the Saints should make protecting quarterback Drew Brees a priority. There are also some rumors that claim that the Saints are looking into a quarterback to replace Brees. Should he be available Chris Cook of Michigan State could be an option here.
12. Chicago Bears^ (From Atlanta Falcons) (5-10)
Landon Collins
Safety, Alabama
I was split here for the Bears. On the one hand the Bears have a serious issue on the defensive side of the ball and Landon Collins is easily the best secondary player in the draft. Some analysts say that Collins is the best safety in the draft since Seattle Seahawks safety Earl Thomas. On the other hand, the Bears have had some serious struggles on offense because of below average quarterback play. I could see the Bears taking a risk here by grabbing UCLA’s Brett Hundley.
13. Cleveland Browns (7-8)
Andrus Peat
Offensive Tackle, Stanford
Peat could be the best offensive tackle in the draft. He has a great skill set to succeed in the NFL and would perfectly round out the Browns offensive line. Last year the Browns had two first round picks, both of which were not very successful. Their best pick was when they took offensive guard Joel Bitonio. The Browns will learn from this for this draft.
14. San Francisco 49ers (7-8)
Danny Shelton
Defensive Tackle, Washington
Danny Shelton is one of the top defensive players in the draft and would help to round out a 49ers defense that struggled against top running backs this year.
15. Houston Texans (8-7)
Brett Hundley
Quarterback, UCLA
I’m not a huge fan of Hundley. I continue to hear about all of his talent and the numbers he puts up, yet when I watch him play I never see anything that shows me he can be an NFL quarterback. That being said he is probably the best quarterback in the draft at this point and the Texans desperately need a quarterback.
16. Kansas City Chiefs (8-7)
Kevin White
Wide Receiver, West Virginia
Yet again the major need for the Chiefs is wide receiver. The Chiefs have not scored a touchdown to a wide receiver in over a year. Kevin White is a solid receiver who is fast and big. He would immediately step in and become the number one receiver for the Chiefs.
17. Cleveland Browns* (From Buffalo Bills (8-7)) (7-8)
Devin Funchess
Wide Receiver/Tight End, Michigan
The Browns could use a legitimate number two wide receiver across from star wide receiver Josh Gordon. Funchess is in my opinion the second best offensive weapon in this draft after Amari Cooper. The Browns got this pick from the Bills in last years draft when the Bills traded up to get wide receiver Sammy Watkins. The Browns have a large need a cornerback as well, however since they drafted cornerback Justin Gilbert last year they may not be ready to draft another one.
18. Miami Dolphins (8-7)
Vic Beasley
Outside Linebacker, Clemson
The Dolphins could continue to build on their defensive strides by grabbing a steal here, value wise, in Clemson’s Beasely. They might grab a wide receiver but I believe that this pick makes more sense for them.
19. Philadelphia Eagles (9-6)
Trae Waynes
Cornerback, Michigan State
The Philadelphia Eagles desperately need help in their secondary. After how poorly their cornerbacks performed this year, taking Waynes, should he be available, should be a no brainer for the Eagles. While I personally see Waynes as the better choice, I wouldn’t put it past head coach Chip Kelly to grab Oregon cornerback Ifo Ekpre-Olomu. I can’t see the Eagles passing on a cornerback, however, the Eagles have been reportedly linked to quarterbacks Marcus Mariota and Bryce Betty (See Picks 1 and 2) and could grab one should they fall, or use this pick to trade up.
20. Baltimore Ravens (9-6)
Melvin Gordon III
Running Back, Wisconsin
Finally! A running back makes it back into the first round. MG3 has had an incredible year in Wisconsin and should be a no brainer for Ravens. Yes, running back Justin Forsett did have an outstanding year for the Ravens, however I don’t think the Ravens trust him to continue any more than you or me. Forsett could also be a nice third down back to complement Gordon.
21. Carolina Panthers (6-8-1)
La’el Collins
Offensive Tackle, LSU
The Panthers could go in quite few different directions with this pick. They need some secondary help, they need wide receiver help and they could use a running back. This draft is deep at running back, and aside from that the Panthers priority needs to be protecting their franchise quarterback Cam Newton. He took too many hits this year and Collins is a good step in the right direction here.
22. San Diego Chargers (9-6)
T.J. Clemmings
Offensive Tackle, Pitt
The Chargers have a need along the defensive line, but I thing that Clemmings is an attractive pick for them here to help fill out their offensive line and protect quarterback Phillip Rivers.
