Film Study (continued)

7) Here’s another play from Oregon State’s game against Arizona State but this play showcases Nelson’s ability against the run. He reads the play, doesn’t over-pursue the run and makes the tackle. Even though it went for a first down, there wasn’t much more Nelson could have done than this.

8) On this play against Washington State, Nelson does a good job of recognizing the screen, getting off the block and securing the tackle for a minimal gain.

9) Here’s Nelson going up against Stanford and their wide receiver Ty Montgomery in the red-zone. Nelson stays with Montgomery all the way to the sideline and keeps his eyes on the ball the entire time. No chance of it being completed, solid play.

10) On this play against Hawaii, Nelson stays with the deep route the entire play and does a good job of attacking the ball at it’s highest point and making the interception.

11) Here’s a couple of plays from the 2015 Senior Bowl, specifically when Nelson went up against Auburn’s wide receiver Sammie Coates. On this first play, Nelson stays with Coates, doesn’t bite on the stutter step and deflects the pass intended for Coates on the sideline.

12) Lastly, here is Nelson against Coates once again at the 2015 Senior Bowl. This time Nelson stays with the speedster Coates down the field and draws the offensive pass interference even though the pass was incomplete. Nelson was so tight in coverage on this play, it almost looked like he was the receiver running the route. Very impressive.
