While Eagles fans may not be that familiar with Oregon offensive tackle Jake Fisher, Chip Kelly certainly is. He recruited him to join the Ducks back when he was the head coach at the university. That alone shouldn’t interest Philadelphia’s fans in Fisher though.

The team has a need for depth along the offensive line with current starters Jason Peters, Evan Mathis and Todd Herremans all in their thirties and not getting any younger. It’d be nice for the team to address the position sometime in the draft and getting a player that’s already familiar with Kelly’s uptempo scheme would be very helpful.

Fisher is listed at 6-6, 299 lbs., which may seem a little light for an NFL lineman. But he is quick and great in the zone blocking scheme which the Eagles primarily use. Fisher should be at the top of the list in most of the offensive linemen drills at the combine because of his deceptive speed and light feet. It’s easy to view this as Chip Kelly’s “duck bias” once again but Fisher would fit in perfectly in Philadelphia.
